Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest room and received a junior suite in the Grand Tower

How are the rooms?
Fine comfort-wise but the decor is very dated and could use an update.

How is the exec. lounge?
No lounge but breakfast in the main restaurant was included

Did you receive a welcome gift?
Fruit and water only

How was the minibar?
Three kinds of vodka as mentioned in prior posts with limited other options. One Chivas, Glenlivet, Jim Beam, and Jameson

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
The room was nicely laid out with plenty of space and a comfortable bed.

-Bad
The decor is very dated and the bathroom is a bit small.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Decent for the rate I paid ($190)

Would you return?
Yes, but I would try the Executive tower

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
no

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked basic got Club seaview (translate basic with seaview)

How are the rooms?
straight out of the 1970s, tired and ugly

How is the exec. lounge?
it looks like a retiement home but service is good

Did you receive a welcome gift?
a cheap chocolate bar

How was the minibar?
fairly weak, one beer, Chenet wines, a few spirits in tiny bottles

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
the pool + grounds are nice, but the place was surrounded by construction projects and after many delays IC Muscat will supposedly begin renovation of rooms at Ramadan

-Bad
the hotel has not been updated in 40 years and looks like it, probably one of the most poorly managed ICs that I have ever stayed at

typical Mideast hotel where they are far more concerned about selling drinks and food, hotel guests are basically a nuisance

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
very poor $ value but points it would be cheap for an RA

Would you return?

not until they renovate the rooms

IC Baan Taling Ngam Koh Samui

IC Baan Taling Ngam Koh Samui

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Absolutely not

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Classic. Got King Suite.

How are the rooms?
One spacious big room with shower and bathtub freestanding at the back of the room. Spacious, modern, clean. Few issues like lights in the cabinet not going off etc.
Deck with nice view, but there is a antenna mast with several cell antennas in from of the room in the middle of the resort

How is the exec. lounge?
No lounge, they offer some kind of lounge experience which consists of breakfast in the main restaurant, high tea in the lobby area and happy hour in the bar area one floor below.
Breakfast selection is just average for an IC, service is inattentive and constantly forgets things ordered. High tea is in a nice setting, but food quality is not up to regular standards (sandwiches with dried out bending bread, cakes halfway molten by sitting in the heat to long etc). Happy hour is a joke. Minimal food of mixed quality (including some fish balls friend in extremely rancid oil etc).

Did you receive a welcome gift?
Yes. Some strange pants. Did not take

How was the minibar?
Just average

What was good and what was bad?
+ View from the lobby, the bar and the deck
+ Secluded location, number of pools
+ Good selection of fruits for breakfast
+ Some staff is very friendly, but many are not very efficient and not well trained
+ Harnn Amenities (fortunately no Agraria)
- They charge you for everything, steamroom, all kinds of activities (even those which normally are free) etc
- Cell tower in middle of resort
- check in experience was strange. After arriving nobody there welcoming us. One employee sitting behind the reception desk who could care less. No help with luggage. No explanation of benefits or resort in generat. Claim of 3 level upgrade which was not true.
- club experience, especially happy hour
- they are not willing to call a taxi for you. Even for going to a restaurant in the local area they charge 1500 bath (?!?). There is Grab, but it can take very long for a car to show up
- constant service issues. Almost no request was done in time or correctly
- Don't remember any other hotel lately where I was asked for the room number (even by the same person on the same day). Other hotels tend to address you by name after a few days
- Prices are insane for food or drink. About double of what I am used to in 5stars in Thailand

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Too expensice compared to other places on Samui or in Thailand for what they offer

Would you return?
No way! The other ICs in Hua Hin and Pattaya don't have an as good view, but are better in basically all aspects. And a price of 12000 bath ++ for a room is too expensive for what they offer.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes. 2 stays within a few days.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest and got room on high floor (basically same room a bit better equipped) on high floor

How are the rooms?
Nicely appointed

How is the exec. lounge?
Good. It seems that the offering has improved in the last year. Better selection and food quality. Service was very attentive and personal.

Did you receive a welcome gift?
Yes. One stuffed toy elephant and some roll of fabric the next time
Fuit basket, bottle of red (only on first day)

How was the minibar?
Nice. Good selection, but not enough diet drinks (no change to before)

What was good and what was bad?
+ Good location
+ Club has improved a lot, easy check in, feeling welcome
+ Very personal. Was addressed by name most of the time in the lounge.
+ Can take breakfast also downstairs
+ Good happy hour offering
+ Swimming Pool at top floor is nice, but very small
+ Steam room, Sauna etc are nice (and they don't charge extra like Samui tries)
- Agraria
- Standard size room (need to book higher category to get a suite)

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Paid stay. Price was reasonable.

Would you return?
Yes, as long as they room rate stays in the current range

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Extremely

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest first. Was contacted by hotel a few days before the syat asking if I want my favored xx16 again. For that they offered a reasonable surcharge to a somewhat higher category which then upgrades tp xx16 - whoich I accepted.

How are the rooms?
Great. (see previous posts)

How is the exec. lounge?
The best of any IC hotels I know. Great personal service, great offerings (quality, selection.....)

Did you receive a welcome gift?
Some tea

How was the minibar?
Very good

What was good and what was bad?
See older reviews.
I read some comments about construction around the hotel. The new buildings in the back are almost done. But the back side still does not look nice. Better to get a room facing the harbor.
There is also construction on a new walkway in front of the hotel (in the water). which does not impact you on higher floors (likely 8 or so and above).

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
It is somewhat expensive but worth the money.

Would you return?
Constantly do.

Cannes

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Mostly OK.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Classic, given Executive Sea View. Booked one night under FHR and one night points.

How are the rooms?
The room was ok, and two sinks in the bathroom is nice. But opening up the doors onto the sunny Côte d'Azur is what it's really about. And this time of year you can leave the doors open all day. Also at this time of year it is the best time to visit Cannes. Everything is in brilliant working order and everyone is excited for the upcoming film festival. I've always had great stays here in April and early May.

How is the exec. lounge?
No lounge here.

Did you receive a welcome gift?
Bottle of Champagne and some fruit, etc.

How was the minibar?
OK. Half bottle of Champagne and the usual stuff.

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
No charge for a rollaway bed added at the last moment
FHR €85 F&B credit
Breakfast was great on the one day we had it.
Service was excellent throughout, especially valet parking and the beach service.

Bad:
Almost no benefits on award nights. They even tried to charge me for the mini-bar for the second day, but I insisted that there was no information given about this at check in. The only thing they told me at check in was that I did not get breakfast for the award night. It seems you cannot count on anything here on award nights, but at least they did not ask me to change my room.
No free film as the system was out of order.
Breakfast is extremely expensive if you have to pay. But that's Cannes.

Value for € or Priority Club Points?
If you can make good use of your stay and enjoy the beach, yes. But not using points.

Would you return?
Yes.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest, gut club room on high floor. They told me this was a triple upgrade, but the room looked like a regular room with a coffee maker

How are the rooms?
Somehow the decor makes them look older than the hotel itself. Normal size, good size work desk. Bathroom with separate shower.

How is the exec. lounge?
Nice. Good selection for high tea and happy hour (quality and quantity was more than adequate. Can take breakfast also in main restaurant

Did you receive a welcome gift?
A shoe bag, fruits and extra water every day

How was the minibar?
It looked very sanitized. No hard liquor and only 2 beers etc. But on the second day somebody brought for small boittles of liquor and told me that is complimentary for RAs.

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
Nice club with friendly personal service

-Bad
Agraria small bottles
Extremely slow service at breakfast in the main restaurant. One day it took more than 10 minutes before even sombody took the coffee order

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Considering the low rate it was an extremely good value

Would you return?
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes!

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Cheapest room received ! BR Suite with Harbour View! (Note, used BOGO and points)

How are the rooms?
Pretty nice. Separate living room, large windows with a beautiful view. A little dated and a very runny toilet, but the view more than made up for it!

How is the exec. lounge?
Beautiful panoramic views. Fantastic terrace. Good selection at breakfast, tea time, and canapes. However, I often felt like I was being interrogated like a criminal when entering the lounge. I did not notice this treatment of others.

Did you receive a welcome gift?
Crappy fruit plate, bottled waters, and a reusable branded coffee cup.

How was the minibar?
Fairly standard, but included a nice half bottle of Australian Chandon and Shiraz.

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
Good price (BOGO and points)
Gorgeous view and proximity to transport
Beautiful lounge views and ample food and drinks selections
A room was ready to freshen up immediately upon arrival (key for the long haul red eye)

-Bad
Room was a little tired and plumbing issues (toilet ran constantly!)
Service in lounge was a bit rough at times (though improved during my stay)

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
For sure (especially, as it was over the Easter holiday)!

Would you return?
The location for a tourist trip is ideal and would definitely return. Also seems well positioned for business in the CBD.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Cheapest room received Junior Suite overseeing a noisy atrium. Booked on points.

How are the rooms?
Nothing special. "Junior Suite" just means slightly larger room. Bathroom was tired and room was noisy. Although, the architecture is very interesting for the hotel as a whole.

How is the exec. lounge?
OK. Good breakfast. Tea was OK. Canapes ranged from OK to blah. Wines were lovely. Much like Sydney, I often felt like I was being interrogated like a criminal when entering the lounge. I did not notice this treatment of others.

Did you receive a welcome gift?
Really crappy fruit plate and bottled waters, replenished daily.

How was the minibar?
Standard

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
Good value on points during school holidays
Good proximity to transport (free trams outside)
Very attentive desk and bell staff
Did not feel crowded, despite the school holidays

-Bad
Room was nothing special and toilet also ran constantly
Service in lounge was a bit rough at times

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Yes, given the school holidays

Would you return?

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest for one night, received a Club room.

How are the rooms?
Very spacious and really good furnished. I extremely liked the bathroom with view on the city skyline

How is the exec. lounge?
One of the best I know. The ambience and the whole setting is very decent. Perfect view and elegant design. Staff is great. Have been there for happy hour (6-8 pm). Selection of drinks (incl cocktails, variety of good wines and also Moët) and food are on high standard.

Did you receive a welcome Gift.
a nice USB stick in a box plus fruit plate (at check in I have been asked what kind of plate I prefer - happened in other ICs not). Plus a voucher for 2 items being pressed.

How was the minibar?
Good. Next to soft drinks also Heinecken, Corona, some wine bottles andsmall bottle Grey Goose and other small ones)

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
- less than 10 minutes to DXB
- very polite check in on club level (26th floor)
- decent club lounge
- the pool because of its construction (the end is in plexiglass, so you can swim in the air - awesome experience)
- direct access to mall with its water fountain show

-Bad
- not perfectly located for city discovery (but perfect for airport stays)

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Room rate for value fair

Would you return?
yes

What is your IHG Rewards Club status?

Spire Royal Ambassador

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Deluxe Suite, Received same. Few days before arrival, I contacted to hotel and informed my room preferences. One of my preference is bathtub. However, all of Deluxe Suites don’t have bathtub. According to the mail from Director of Front Office, Two Beds Deluxe/Premier Rooms (part of), Executive Suites, Presidential Suite, and Harold S. Vanderbilt Penthouse have bathtub. And all other rooms and suites don’t have bathtub. Unfortunately at that time, all of higher Suites have been fully booked. So, I asked the rate discount and it has been accepted with Executive Room rate. My room was not ready upon arrival, so I needed to wait in temporary room (Superior Room) until 7:30PM.

How are the rooms?
According to hotel WEB site, Deluxe Suites room size is start from 47 sqm (500 sqft). But my rooms seems to be around 60 sqm (646 sqft). Specious living area, fairly sized bedroom, and decent sized bathroom (but shower only). Bathroom has floor heating. But no matter this bathroom has floor heating, I don’t believe guest can be bearable severe cold of NYC’s winter season due to low water flow/pressure of shower. It was really cold for me. 2x 55 inch LG LCD TV, Nespresso, and Caswell-Massey toiletries.

Video of Deluxe Suite:

Video of Superior Room

How is the exec. lounge?
Located in the lobby floor. Just behind of the Gin Parlour. 2x meeting rooms, business centre and concierge functions, good enough. Foods are decent. But beverages selections, especially evening cocktails selections are too small. No hard liquors. Every foods and beverages are self service, but soft drinks presentation is not user friendly. I was a little bit hesitated to pick up Diet Coke from refrigerator.

How was the mini-bar?
Well stocked included Moët Champagne Demi Bottle. No replenished during the stay.

What was your welcome gift?
2x Drink Vouchers at Gin Parlour

Did you receive fruit in the room?
Yes.

What was good and what was bad?
Good
+++++ Location
+++++ Very comfortable bed
+++++ Helpful concierges
+++++ Club Lounge food offerings

Bad
————— Tip (Gratuity) culture
(America should be changed their culture from tip (gratuity) to service charge)
————— No bathtub in Suite
————— Low water pressure/flow of shower.
——- Club Lounge beverage offerings
——- One Guest Relation officer didn’t send feedback to my inquiry

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Overall yes.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked rewards nights and got a Nile View King

How are the rooms?
The rooms are a little dated but in good condition and clean.

How is the exec. lounge?
Nice space and great service. The breakfast was very nice and the spread at happy hour was also good. Somewhat limited drinks selection with cheaper brands but very good overall.

Did you receive a welcome gift?
Yes, a notebook/diary.

How was the minibar?
Very limited when we arrived. One local beer, one Heineken, and one white wine. There were other spirits on the menu but not in the bar. Later a red wine was added and, on our third day, a 500ml bottle of vodka appeared.

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
- Service throughout the hotel was great
- In house restaurants - we had the Thai for lunch and Italian for dinner
- Club lounge
- Great location for tourists

-Bad
- Inconsistent housekeeping. We only had turn down one night and they were very cheap with the toiletries. The shower gel and shampoo were only replaced when they were completely empty.
- Mini bar inconsistency

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Yes. Paid rate was only US$100/night but taxes run close to 40%. Considering that is was decent for 25000/night.
The restaurants in the hotel are also a good value.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest for one night, received a Club room (same room as standard room)

How are the rooms?
Beautiful rooms with a lot of wood and great couch. But this room is similar to a standard room.
Because the club lounge was closed no difference was there and the "upgrade" is a little questionable.

How is the exec. lounge?
Has been closed. Breakfast was instead in normal breakfast room which has real high quality.
Even more, there is an additional lounge next to ski bus within the city (which I have not used, as well)

Did you receive a welcome Gift.
yes a box of filled chocolate

How was the minibar?
Nothing special. A few bottles of beer, soda and rivella

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
- modern furnishing with wooden elements
- spacious rooms
- good breakfast offering

-Bad
- a little it apart of city center

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Value for money is fair (from a Swiss point of view)

Would you return?
yes
