Another quarter, another Accelerate. Answers to some Frequently Asked Questions below:
For newcomers to IHG promotions, note that Holiday Inn Express and Holiday Inn (including Holiday Inn Resorts) are two different brand categories for these things. If your dashboard says 'stay at a Holiday Inn Express' as one of the tasks and you stay at a Holiday Inn, it will NOT credit for the Holiday Inn Express task. (and vice versa)
An award stay only counts toward a task that specifically requires an award stay and will not count toward other tasks and night requirements for the purposes of the promotion. (Award stays do count toward general elite qualification, but that's outside this promotion)
At IHG, points + cash stays are simply points stays where you bought some of the points at the time of the reservation. Once you finish the reservation, a points + cash stay shows as a points stay. Thus points + cash stays only count for tasks where they are specified, and not other tasks.
Doing a points + cash booking and then cancelling it does NOT trigger a 'buy points' task completion. A 'buy points' task is a points transaction that is processed through points.com
The 'pay with your IHG credit card' task has typically been very slow to post. If it does within about two weeks of completing a stay, that's relatively quick, and it will often be several weeks beyond that, depending on when your statement closing date is and how IHG's system sweep is timed.
Some offers require booking within the promotion period in addition to staying during the promotion period.

So basically the easiest way to meet the challenge would be three nights, all in Holiday Inn Expresses two of which is a Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun and one in a listed city. Unfortunately while I do have travel planned in the San Francisco Bay Area during the period, the San Francisco area is defined as San Francisco and San Mateo Counties only, and not the East Bay or San Jose. Meanwhile the Chicago, DC, and Orlando IHG zones are defined pretty liberally, and the LA one (my home market) includes a couple in the outer areas of the market (Palmdale and Lancaster) that often have good rates, although I hate mattress running to an area out of the way I have no interest in hanging out around.

I take your point about jumping ship though - I'm now going out of my way to avoid IHG wherever possible, even in situations where I might normally have stayed with them, so the Accelerate program has had exactly the opposite effect on me to what was intended.

After maxing out several of these promos in a row, I've skipped the last two, and my task nights for this one have continued to lower. I can get about 47K with as few as 5 nights.
My girlfriend opened her account when the first Share promo came around, and her 30K balance is entirely from my shares and some postcards. No nights stayed. She gets the repeating "Stay 3 more nights - Get an additional 3,000" offer every time, including this one. I wonder if offering newbies more creative promos might not be a better way to get them engaged?

It has driven me away too with very few paid stays in 2017, happily giving me the opportunity to check out the competition and see how good it is. I did not participate in Accelerate Q3 and did not even register for it (maybe that wasn't a good idea). I have registered for Q4 but am not very motivated to make many stays.

I disagree that is a very generous way of offering the stay NN nights for xxxxx points task. As instead of ALL OR NOTHING like most other IHGers get, which would be a single task target of -> Stay 19nights for 32k points
Compare that offer of yours with eg -> Stay 30nights for 60k points (or highe 40nights for 80k points) on an all or nothing basis like us regulars receive each and every accelerator.
For 2Q and 3Q Accelerators , I am just taking i)first stay 2k ii)first month of promo stay 5k ii)2x Corp stays 2k for total of 9k each. I even have stay tasks out of the blue 3Q like "Stay in NYC" which is never happening

If you look at the other offers you see people who can trigger the Accelerate bonus with a single stay, or get around 50K for 5 nights, whereas with mine it's simply stay 19 nights or else rotate. The fact that they've broken it up into lumps of 3 nights doesn't help me - it just means I have no other interesting ways of accruing points than mere B-in-B at around 1K/night until night 19. Currently I have much better value propositions with the SPG, MR and HH promos so that's why I see no need to hit IHG properties until they offer me something worthwhile.

I got a little less than Q2, not enough to go for the full thing but enough to give them 3 stays.
Two HIX stays, with one of them in September, and then one P&C with any brand, will yield me 13k. I have a few weekend airport stays coming up where I can throw HIX 3 of them. My most common redemption is 15k HIX/HI, so that'll work.
The next level would require 5 more paid nights for 27.5k bonus. That one I doubt I'll make.
