The free night in an HIX did say any one globally. I would be happy to accept that as long as I could book it somewhere where rates are ridiculously high - e.g. London Victoria when its £200 a night etc as opposed to the Metro Centre when it's £38 a night.
It also said up to 25,000 points in year four for the points option. Spire is now 2.5 years old. Any changes now would be for the choice benefit for 2019 and by that time anyone who has been Spire since the start would be looking to make their fourth choice benefit so in theory it would still be 25k. Unless they reset everyone to zero which is possible, this is IHG.

I must have been half asleep when I was considering my preferences. I ranked this 2nd behind a 6 month Netflix voucher. What was i thinking?

you coin it. "IF"
in reality many of us will have no chance to redeem the voucher at such exceptional times/places, statistics are clear here. supposed the voucher will have an expiry date, a significant portion will expire (compare statistics "IC weekend voucher")
so this is like casino, yes there are winners, but as a fact looser are the majority.
again, it proofs the professionalism of ihg marketing. they can introduce something saving money and still make the customer feel happy. genius in my understanding)

My reaction was simply that we are supposed to be the top tier of elite, yet the best they can do is a free night in HIX, not even extending it to include HIs but only HIX!
