Fake Holiday Inn near Zhangzhou International Airport, China

I am having the worst nightmare ever tonight!

Made a hotel reservation at the departure gate of Zhangzhou International Airport hotel reservation desk and asked for a holiday inn and got one. picked up by a shuttle bus and dropped off at the check in desk after a 20 minutes or so terrible ride in a broken down van.

As soon as I enter the hotel, something tells me I am at the wrong place. IT IS NOT A HOLIDAY INN I KNOW OF!!! IT IS A FAKE ONE CALLED "S & P Holiday Inn". If I want to cancel it, I must go back to the airport and may not get my money back as I paid by cash.

Decided to stay and what a nightmare. The place has mosquitos and I got bites within an hour. I can hear roster calling outside.

Called the real holiday inn custom service at 3AM China time and registered flyertak forum and here is my story! More to come.

Is there a trademark protection of the name - Holiday Inn?

Took photos of this hotel and its appearance on ctrip app reservation. The ctrip screen is fake too. The front view of the hotel does not look like that. Ctrip should be not check its posting here. All the hotel items has the "S&P Holiday Inn" on them and the Chinese name is call 尚品假日酒店,广州市白云区人和镇东华村华成路。

Unfortunately...it only helps China, not the other way around.

Copyright protection is pretty much meaningless in China.

What you have experienced is simply a tip of the iceberg.

Plenty of fake "Holiday" inns throughout China. They change a little something just in case they are not "friends" of Xi. Usually, they are right next to the 7-12's. Missed it by that much.

And, the roosters near where I lived never crowed until 5am. About when the fireworks started.

Make sure to pick up a Rolex while you're there, OP. Some great deals in the little shops.

With the rooster making all the noise, at least you know the eggs at breakfast will be fresh.

You'll have an interesting travel story to tell in the future. I'd just go with the flow.

I believe the brand is Lolex... Street vendors sell them for $2, but the good replicas go for $25 or so...

That's not always true. Food can use fake ingredients.
