Quickest way if you can't transfer points is find the closest and cheapest hotel to you, select the 1000 bonus points option, check in then check out the next day as normal.
I'm in luck where I am as I'm not far from Gatwick airport. Some of their hotel nights can be as low as Ł35 some days of the year. Useful for hitting some Accelerate goals if the rewards and worthwhile enough. It's really sad but sometimes it's nice to just have a random night somewhere for no reason!

Airline Miles (eg Virgin) transferred into IHG accts still count as EQPs, but rules state allow upto 30days, though typically happens quicker. BUT with only 10days in 2016 left is probably risky now
same with IHG CC, a much higher manufactured spend needed to garner 1200 EQPs, and CC points may not credit during 2016 ten days remaining, so high risk.
Personally I'd find find a usd120++ rate and check in and not bother using room, as Spire should be worth that small cost, especially if as expected some Sire announcement in 1Q2017 firms up Spire benefits. (or a cheaper usd bonus-rate with 1k/night bonus )

Unless you just happen to have an E-Rewards account with some available balance, the quickest way I can think to do it in 9 days is just to pick the property closest to you with a 1000 bonus points rate and mattress run it.

I would call the service desk and ask them nicely to upgrade to Spire, you can always say that you worked hard to achieve it but unfortunately ended up short but so close, a nice supervisor will do that for you, they did it for me once from Gold to Platimum.
Good Luck!!!

Elite Qualifying Points Earned: 74,975 of 75,000 for Spire Elite
So, any thoughts on a transfer from American Express, or Avios?

Check your stats for the last couple of months if you haven't already done so. It's amazing how often hotels deduct the tax twice on the qualifying spend.

I have 34,000 EQP out of 40,000 this year.
if I transfer 6000 points from Chase UR into my IHG account, do those count as EQP?
thanks !
