Extending Diamond status by purchasing Ambassador?

You need to look at your app ONLY. In the web, when you click on the link, it will only show your Ambassador Expire Date. For instance, in my case, when I go to the web and click on [2018 Track to Elite Status: View Earning Summary], it says:
You arespire elite
But in the APP, the lowest line is
Elite Status Expiration: 12/31/2019
Suggest you to look at your APP again. There is no reason why it is not showing your Elite Status Expiration as the year end.

Qualifying Points: XXXXX
Qualified Nights: XX

Here's a screenshot of my app page details - I seem to have been extended two years (somewhere along the way)? I renewed Ambassador earlier this month ($200).

Even for those that show the elite status expiration date, while i hope it will, it does not necessarily mean Spire status since Gold/Plat are also IHG elites and (officially) Amb comes with Gold (soon Plat). Anyway, will know in a few days...

I think there is a pretty good chance that your Spire is extended to 2020. At least by 1st January 2019 you should see whether you are still Spire or not.
Mine is still until 31st December 2019, I will renew my Ambassador in January and I will report back if it is extended to 31st December 2020 too.

the elite status expiration should be tied to that status and not a lower one as the app lists them separately and the screenshot is just for Spire

In the app, that 'Track to Elite Status' element and the arrow to the right, sure is well hidden. I had never really seen that, let alone thought that I should click on it. I hate apps on phones....I miss real desktop websites that have lots of info per page.

as mentioned, there is no guarantee. i remember a discussion some 2 years ago, either on FT or elsewhere, on exactly this issue and without a definite conclusion.

So, with all you guys reporting either 2019 or 2020 as expiry, I am reading from all the posts here that I am the ONLY so far unlucky having NOT been extended Spire with the purchase of Ambassador 
??? Anyone else Spire expiring 2018 despite purchasing/renewing Amb?
For the record, I purchased Amb 24th November. Interstingly, I have an activity line on 27th Nov that says ”ad hoc mailing - program update” , 0 points. I wonder if that is some manual ”adjustment” related
