Update December 2018: it looks like some accounts are proactively being renewed in December 2018, well ahead of the stated expiration of Jan 31, 2019. It is currently unknown what criteria were used, but previous years appeared to indicate around $10K++ in IC spend only.

As before, please Divide EQPs by 10 to get $$$ Spend

Shenzhen IC separates mini bar (that could be complementary) with labeled drinks in the room that is not covered by the RA benefit. The Champagne should need a label that indicate it is not complementary for RA at that hotel. Its about being stress free and not having to do the math after a long day from work and I have already missed the Club Lounge. Happy Hour in China IC properties close around 7pm. $10 miniature spirits is not a lot if per night. I ordered 5 Vodka Soda at Intercontinental Double Bay Sydney and was charged 10 drinks by the bar manager. They consider each Vodka Soda should be charged for Double Shot which is like two miniature Spirits per drink! I drank more than that at the bar but what I meant was the member did not drink all 70 in one night.

Maybe it is abuse but maybe not. The limit is drop to 200RMB per day for RA and the water alone cost $88 RMB (15% price increase for 2019) in Shenzhen IC. I could just drink two bottles of water from the room per day. China IC prices is no cheaper than Euro or US IC prices for Mini bar!
It is always possible, to ask to empty the mini-bar by the hotel staff, to use the space after taking your 2 bottles

In Club Med Finalhu Villas the butlers tell you to store all the mini bar alcohol in the safe and lock it upon checkout. Then inform front desk at checkout the alcohol is not consumed and in the safe. This is because cleaners take the alcohol and keep it to themselves after room cleaning and by doing this there is no charge. Maybe if the member locked the miniature spirits and champagne in the safe everyday before room cleaning we will all still have the benefit?

aren't they supposed to provide water on a daily basis in addition to any water in the mini bar.

on the subject of staff, i don't pay too much attention to it, but often i will be away from the room when the mini bar is getting refilled, and who knows what the other staff do when in the room, but it is quite possible on longer stays to have challenges reconciling mini bar billing.

for example my most recent stay in Montreal was 12 nights, and on the departure day i wouldn't recall what i, much less other family members wld have consumed on that day, much less the days prior......

i'm going to ask the property at check in if they are enforcing the credit system, or remaining with old 'gratis' system, if we all do that, maybe properties will consider staying with the old system, particularly when you have a relationship with the property, and with return stayers

This is my routine. The room comes with two bottles of water. I use one bottle even when I leave the hotel on travel and the other bottle for the Nespresso Machine in the room. Somestimes for the kettle for hot tea. The sparkling/still mineral water from Ambassador is usually for my family or room guest (no point in getting a suite with no room guest). When in the middle of the night the bottle of water left is in the mini bar when I come back from dinner (bar/restaurants). That leaves no water. But if you get a small coconut juice from the minibar it will cost 48RMB and the volume is usually 245ml only.

Again, the whole point was not having to do any math over the minibar during the stay as a hard earned RA.

i had two prepaid stays posting after Dec. 27th, which add 4 nights (61 instead of 57 as of 27th) and spent of 12600 $ instead of 11890.
Update:
Today „18/01/2019. Royal Ambassador Status“ posted on my account. No e-Mail from IHG, no Kimpton Inner Circle.
Royal Ambasador Card in the app now shows expiry Dec. 30, 2019.

I think it is better for IHG to try to articulate their definition of "loyalty"; some information about the elements of their customers taken into consideration in examining the qualification of RAs.
I'm in the same boat and completely agree, I went from $0 to $18k+ with IHG in 2018 and always hearing "thanks for being spire ambassador, sorry you just have to wait to see if you're the top 1% we want to hook up" is merh.

I'm currently waiting to hear if I will be invited to be a RA, I know I'm on the border 75/35 IHG/IC nights, with $10,700 base spend across 5 IC.
Does anyone know by when I will know for sure if I'm invited or not? Also I saw some people notated "manual renewed" can I request a 2nd look?
