Update December 2018: it looks like some accounts are proactively being renewed in December 2018, well ahead of the stated expiration of Jan 31, 2019. It is currently unknown what criteria were used, but previous years appeared to indicate around $10K++ in IC spend only.

As before, please Divide EQPs by 10 to get $$$ Spend

The good news is that “by invitation” is still the principle. Makes great sense as a marketing tool, and clearly creates angst amongst those who want everything black and white, as evidenced in this thread. Great work by IHG

Excuse me but I strongly disagree. As you can see in this thread, not disclosing the RA criteria creates confusion, frustration and anger among IHGs most loyal customers. I really don‘t see the value in it.

btw: Got a negative response as well...

I agree they must have changed something in the criteria.

So again, to help this thread and others I have been through my account and here are the stats for 2019:

IC nights (all paid) = 39 @ 3 different ICs (higher than I thought)
IC EQPs = 106,052 so if we just use that it’s $10605++
Actual IC Spend $11860++ for some reason this is different and IHG are completely useless at fixing this. Please note this excludes taxes.
Other IHG nights = 41
Other EQPs = 52010
Actual spend = $8419 (quite a difference but again I’m not going through 15 stays trying to fix it as there is only a few points to gain)

I don’t have wiki rights yet but hope this helps.

I completely disagree with the idea that keeping the criteria a secret is a good thing. It’s greedy and creates distrust in the brand. If you qualify it feels good and you can justify what you think is the criteria, if you don’t but seemingly are over said criteria you feel that your loyalty is not wanted. It is not invite only, there is a criteria and you have to meet that. Invite only would be more proactive and be offered mid year for example or to people with large IHG spends to encourage them to use IC.

For me this is bittersweet, I do like IC hotels but as I said before the offering at IHG and IC hotels is poor for loyal customers compared to the other chains. RA would have fixed the main one for me which is club access. I can pay a lower rate and stay at the Waldorf, Conrad, Hilton, Sofitel, Pullman, etc. And whilst some of them are better or worse hotel chains they all will offer me better upgrades and benefits compared to IHG.

i don’t have the line item, and the thing is that a lot of the times I look at stays, and the qualified spending for example is 2,000 usd, and the total qualified spending is 20 usd. This usually happened in non-usd hotels. So I called them on the 30.12 to change that. The point calculation was good, it’s just this mistake.

another mistake I have - a 6 nights stay a le-grand - total spending “-1500 euro”
total qualified spending “1900 usd”. so why the minus?
again, the points awarded were correct.
I wanted to put in screenshots here, but for some reason I can’t yet.

I dont know who to email to, as I only emailed ambassador service, which have been reluctant.
Any help will be appreciated.

Unfortunately it appears that they are not in the wiki anymore. But anyway:

No. Of nights: 5
different ICs: 4
total qualified spend: slightly over 13.500 USD
no challenge received, would be first time RA

I think it’s the number of nights that could be your issue.

Probably and it would indicate that IHG switched from a revenue only based approach to an at least combined one. Although I am obviously biased, I still find the revenue approach very appealing. But again, as long as they keep it secret like nuclear weapon codes, we‘ll never know...

But but but the Hyatt website is so broken they'll rapidly run out of bounty money/points!

Not at all the most loyal. By far the majority here game the loyalty programs so they can keep top tier in as many as possible. They are the ones who get frustrated - they are the least loyal but still want the glory. IHG ignores that nonsense and retains the air of mystery. Clever.

You could be clutching at straws.

The dysfunctional exchange rate "thing" seems to be common to all of us. It's certainly present in my account - recent stays in Indonesia (c.IDR15000 to the USD) showed tiny amounts of converted USD in the details of my stay. But the points awarded were spot on, so i think the conversion lines are cosmetic.

They certainly know about it. They could fix it. But they don't.

it's possible you're not getting your correct rate codes, or upgrades? you're paying 2.7K on avg per night.

i've stayed in Presidential suites in many many properties, and never paid more than USD1K?

i guess it's possible you've paid an over the top premium for say a premium night like say NY's in NYC?

avoid rack!

not me, and not quite sure how you can make that statement without the evidence? i think there are an overwhelming number that are re-qualified that voice less. infact i have communication with nearly all that don't get re-qualified initially, and they are very much in the minority, relative to the entire number of posters in the thread.

Hyatt properties are excellent, I really enjoy them (as a Diamond). Just the website is ... uh ... a bit of a charlie-foxtrot.

Don't let your points expire! Hell, I'll help you spend them if you'd like.
