Royal Ambassador Experience Thread 2016

This thread is about Member holding Royal Ambassador Status in the InterContinental Hotels and Resorts Loyalty Program. A template for the post is provided in this post.

This thread is dedicated to the report of the experience and not so much about discussions about each individual hotel, which should be done in the hotel. One of the moderators will add the report to the overview in each thread, which is listed in regions.

If you post here as either Rewards Club or Ambassador Member, you post will be moved accordingly without further notice.

Yes, as always

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Booked classic shortly after the terrorist attacks, upgraded online at first to Prestige Suite, later as the hotel started to get bookings again it went down to Junior Suite and finally when I arrived the hotel was packed and I ended up in an Exec room with a Eiffel Tower view terrace on the 4th floor. I booked several nights paid and points for NYE. I was given Club access as usual.

How are the rooms?

Exec rooms have lots of space, a separate toilet near the entrance and a large bathroom with tub and shower cabin.

How is the Club lounge?

One of the best with great service, good hot food in the evening so really no need to go out to dinner. Champagne all day and night. They made it extra special for Christmas and NYE.

Did you receive a welcome gift?

A diary, a bottle of Champagne and a fruit bowl. Also some cake on NYE.

How was the minibar?

Excellent as usual. One of the best IC minibars.

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
Well taken care of even when the hotel was full

-Bad
Nothing

Value for € or Priority Club Points?

Yes very much so.

I met an IHG exec who was on holiday and he said that he didn't expect any changes to the RA program and that we were very highly valued within IHG. I hope that is indeed the case!

I am not quite sure that it is such a good idea to separate RA experiences from 2015 (and before).
It makes much more difficult to find former experiences, compare them (en even more true for hotels that are not visited often).

What I have done now is to add the links to the 2015 experiences in the list above. All links are set in a way, that only the post will be opened - as it has been in the past.
