IC BANGKOK

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, very consistant IC, you know exactly what you get here

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked - Entry Level Grand Deluxe (1night company rate)
Received - Club Room with Lounge access

How are the rooms?
Note:- Grand Deluxe, Executive Deluxe and Clubroom are sane 40m size rooms, it is benefits that change, plus higher floors for Club Rooms as lounge on top 37th floor
o Bedroom with comfy king bed, pillows, cushions, armchair
o Large TV (60" ?) plenty of channels. Only Hotel with Fox Sports to watch Australian Open Tennis in second week. Other 5* hotel's only had Fox Sports2+3

How is the exec. lounge?
Great as usual, nice size and ambience, great staff, and nice offerings

Did you receive a welcome gift?
Pot-Pouri Elephant
Red Wine (note screw top, Thai fruit wine... a down graded offering)
Small fruit platter
2x bar drinks vouchers

How was the minibar?
One of the best !
6x quarter bottles spirits
Water, Sodas, Juices, Beers
(NOTE- Nov2015-Dec2015 mini bar trial finished
no nibbles for RAs anymore, No non-alcoholic drinks for club access guests)

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
+ Upgrade and Club access (as usual modded within 2days of booking)
+ staff
+ sukhumvit location works well for me
+ IC BKK is counting stays, got an extra made up Chocolate gift as nn'th visit

-Bad
- Nothing (as usual)

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
great value on discounted corporate rate (not worth using points)
even if no corporate rate rooms left, cash is better than using points here

Would you return?
IC BANGKOK

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Not quite sure ???. !!!
On sold out hotel, RA waiting on room 0930 - 1100!!??, then against my better judgement pushed into agreeing to buy upsell to 2-room Exec Suite which couldn't be sold anyway.

I not only ended up paying double my normal rate to book Clubroom for an unwanted corner suite upgrade, but ended up quadrupling usual nightly rate with upsell of Corner Suite (there are 32 of these) to Exec Suite (only 1 of these)

Checkin Timeline -
0930 not getting room right away, take coffee in lounge
1100 still no room, I ask for temp room to shower, watch Australian Open Ladies Final. Told to wait they will look again
1130 Only asked if I am willing to pay room upgrade , no amount mentioned want to show me the room?? !! (In a sold out hotel ?? !! ). Shown the 2-room Exec Suite on 33rd Floor (3322) opposite Royal Suite (3323). Offered upsell rate of 9000bt ++/night on top of the 13000Bt Corner Club Suite goes for versus rack rate of 26,000Bt , just 30% off upsell on sold out night. I turned it down
1145 Offered a 1-off upsell rate 6700++ which I agreed to do

(Note I believe Royal Suite went foc to someone who'd booked the 1-room Premier Suite.)

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked - Club Room on Corporate Rate (had moved to Conrad as IC soldout)
PreUpgrade - Corner Suite
Upsell on sold out IC BKK !!! - 9000bt ++ night to 2room Exec Suite

How are the rooms?
Simply two standard 40m rooms joined together, no justification of value for the Suite rate wanted.
2-Room Exec Suite HI view(non Lumpini side, no end view, 2x side windows only)
LIVING ROOM
o Entry Way with wC + wash basin
o Cupboard/storage unit
o Minibar cupboard
Room widens out
o Work Desk+Chair
o Sofa and eliptical coffee table and 2x armchairs
o TV unit
o Split Sliding Partition door to bedroom

BEDROOM
o Usual King Bed and Pillows
o Usual small round table and armchair
o TV Unit
o Recessed wall setup for vanity glass/stool setup
o Usual Storage units again
o Bathroom, same as standard bathroom
(except wall of bathroom-bedroom is glass with electric privacy curtain)

How is the exec. lounge?
One of the better lounges, large, great staff, nice offerings

Did you receive a welcome gift?
Thai fruit wine, screw on cap

How was the minibar?
6x quarter bottlws of spirits
many water, sodas, juices, beer

What was good and what was bad?

-Good

-Bad
- Not given RA early checkin (0930 is not greedy like 8am or earlier)
- Feeling I got taken advantage of when again asked 1100 for early room, and only offered and hardsell and expensive upsell when IC BKK is already sold out and this upsell suite can not being sold anyway.
.... Still not happy about way this happened 10days or so later.

(SO... If I want a good suite, I'll book Conrad standard room and tick NOR1 Suite Upgrade. I get lovely Terrace Suite for 3300++ plus 4000++ upsell, which is preferred over IC Corner Suite upgrade I get by booking Clubroom at 6500++)

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Upsell Value. POOR ! .. Feeling conned, hardly an upgrade from Corner Suite size or view wise. Will never let this happen again here at IC BKK.

PLUS the 6700++ upsell per night has not posted as room spend and points. Emailed IC Bangkok Lounge Manager to point this lack is incorrect but am being ignored so far

PS
Portuguese IC BKK Lounge Manager (H T de C) is moving on, 12th March starts at IC Berlin as Guest Relations Manager. Last day IC-BKK is 18th Feb

Would you return?
Conrad will be getting many more of my stays from now on, and certainly will if I can't book entry level room at IC BKK next few visits.

IC Grand Stanford, HK

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Not sure. Reason being same side harbour view upgrade as when I last stayed and booked room 3categories higher

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked:- Entry level Superior / Deluxe rooms
Modded:- J/Suite w/o Club Lounge
Upsell :- as RA single person club at 490++

How are the rooms?
2-room, angled windows to opposite building and harbour. Mostly can just see far side, but depends if J/S is the one at fron (street) of hotel or back (harbour) end of the side of hotel

Different from previous visit, lefthand versus righthand mirror image, and road end versus harbour end

Bedroom- King Bed, 40" TV, work desk facing wall (other J/S faces window)
Bathroom- single sink, bath ans walkin shw cubicle
Living Room- sofa, small table, minibar. door to walkin cloak/storage room

How is the exec. lounge?
quite nice size and view direct to harbour on first floor
pleaseant and attentive lounge staff
good b/f offering
ok afternoon offering
good evening 2-hour offering with Moet Champagne

Did you receive a welcome gift?
Chocolates, Red Wine

How was the minibar?
Water, Cans of Beer, soda, drawer with 6minature spirits

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
+ discounted Lounge for single occupancy
+ Lounge covers b/f in Lounge or restaurant and evening drinks of Moet champagne.
+staff polite and helpful throughout hotel

-Bad
- Not the full harbour view I expected AND also poorer road end of hotel to boot view wise. Their loss, I immediately decided to choose club over this virtually useless harbour view in future here.
- taxi drivers reluctant to take fares here
- watch out taxi driver doesn't go to Hongkong Island via Western tunnel ! Instead of nearest tunnel at $65 fare and $10 tunnel fee, I got driver asking $90 fare (longer route) AND $70 Western Tunnekl RETURN fare ($55 1way)
Driver tries saying went western tunnel as traffic .. an outright lie , driver wanted extra $25 fare which I dont mind BUT I wont pay the $70 tunnel fee for dribver to get $25 extra on distance

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Not really when you add Room Rate plus Lounge Upsell together.... As almost same as IC-HK entry category room, RAs should then book IC-HK

Checkin staff on first visit had strongly suggested take upgrade and upsell of lounge as a better/cheaper option than take foc club lounge and pay to upgrade.

Choosing zero extra costing of foc club lounge will work value wise though

Would you return?
Yes, choosing lounge foc over room upgrade. Once IC-GS rate room+lounge aproaches IC-HK base room rate, RAs should really stay at IC-HK

The upgrade is poor (to me) side harbour view is not really worth having, although bigger room is no doubt nice for some. I want a good harbour view over a bit of extra space

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, better value this time free lounge access instead of room upgrade followed by club lounge access upsell

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked - Deluxe (Lower type Superior is same price sometimes)
Received - Possibly Premier on High Club Floor(forgot to check) .. View of street at front of hotel (not courtyard view room)

How are the rooms?
Bedroom - King Bed with pillows, Desk+Desk-Chair, Wardrobe. minibar
Bathroom- Walkin shower, no bath, single sink + toilet

How is the exec. lounge?
o Pretty nice area - Large, Natural Light, view to Harbour, comfortable furniture
o Nice food offerings for breakfast, afternon teatime and evening canapes
o evening drink 2-hour has Moet Champagne
o Lounge access allows you restaurant b/f

Did you receive a welcome gift?
Chocolates

How was the minibar?
Water, cans of soda+beer, drawer of 6x minature spirits

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
+ lounge access foc versus poor view j/s room upgrade
+ lounge access allowed me to have b/f in restaurant
+ staff in general
+ I got street view which is OK, I can't abide courtyard views where ones room window is overlooked from just 3-4m away which is possible at IC-GS. I did not miss the j/s side harbour view and extra sroom ize

-Neutral
o Asked for my company ID, and IC-GS wanted to then photocopy the ID A timely warning to others who might try it on at IC-GS
o I politely pointed out when asked it wasn't really in hotels interest to ask today, as if guest lacked ID, then guest would simply pay on day flex rate at hk$180++ less.
o IC-GS still wanted the company ID (whch I do carry ) and provided. Now ID is seen, I probably wont be asked again

-Bad
- Nothing

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
o Definitely taking foc lounge over room upgrade is the value option here
o Less so this visit company rate cancel to 6pm on day was $180++ more/night so I could cancel and rebook at checkin but wa a bit too embarrassed to push that cancel+rebook PLUS my accelerator2016 has task of "Make 15stays on Corporate Rate"

Would you return?
Definitely.

If solo short HK stay, I don't mind street (non harbour) view.

IC Osaka

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes-5 starts

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard room on points and was given corner club room.

How are the rooms?
Amazing! The layout and set up was unique. Incredible views.

How is the exec. lounge?
I didn't do cocktail hour, but the breakfast spread was very night and much above average for a club lounge. I also checked in the lounge which was nice.

Did you receive a welcome gift?
Japanese candies - 2 different packages

How was the minibar?
Great, there were 2 750ml bottles in wine. One was white at room temp. The red wine had a IC lable. It was fine. There were several beer and cocktail choices as well as a half bottle of champagne.

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
View, staff all called me by name (even if I hadn't seen them before), small talk engagement was nice, room curtains darkened the room despite all the windows.
-Bad
Trying to come up with something but cant.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
I paid 35,000 points which is great value considering much worst ICs such as LA Grand are going to to 60,000.

Would you return?
I look forward to it.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Absolutely, I think they treat RAs really well. Actually they combined 3 single nights from two different IHG accounts into one, with RA benefits during the whole stay. There was a single agent at front desk when we arrived late night, cannot really speak about check-in experience.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Deluxe and received one-bedroom suite on 33rd floor. Received lounge access as well.
How are the rooms?
Nice, airy, modern, with huge LCD TVs. The bathroom was especially nice.
How is the exec. lounge?
Somewhat small, it was crowded a couple of times, probably due to an on-going conference next door. However for one morning they proactively offered buffet breakfast tickets to the restaurant. The food quality is really good, the morning selection is a bit thin.
Did you receive a welcome gift?
I reached the hotel before the stay and noted that we will celebrate a BD and a small cake was delivered in the room before our arrival.
How was the minibar?
Very good selection.
What was good and what was bad?
-Good
Quite everything
-Bad
Nothing
Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
It now went from 50k pts to 60k pts - I still think it might be a good value.
Would you return?
Definitely.

What is your IHG Rewards Club status?

Spire Royal Ambassador.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Mixed feeling. 2 years ago, I felt here is one of the best InterContinental. But it's gone.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest, Received Deluxe Suite Lake View

How are the rooms?
Room itself is OK. But amenities are degraded.
Number of towels are less than half compare to 2 years ago.
Wine glasses and long tumbler glasses are removed.
Also bath pillow is removed.

How is the Club Lounge?
Very nice atmosphere, Great view, Great meal presentation.
But very poor English skill in half of staff. And those staff are also unfriendly.
Sparking wine has gone flat.

What was your welcome gift?
Suits case belt

How was the mini-bar?
Terrible! Removed so many items.
Wines and hard liquors have removed! Alcoholic beverage is the beer only! (Heineken and Tsintao)
Snacks also have removed so many.

Did you receive fruit in the room?
Yes

What was good and what was bad?
GOOD
+++ Internet is out of the Chinese Great Firewall. Can access to Google Services, Facebook, Twitter or YouTube.
(But quite slow)
+++ Great view
++ Cocktail time meal presentation in Club Lounge
(But I think it is too much)

BAD
---------- Degraded in-room amenities include mini-bar
---------- Very poor English skill and super unfriendly some of Club Lounge staff
---------- Too early turndown service (I asked to house keeping to come 1 hour later, but they rejected!)

Value for $ or Rewards Club Points?
Just OK.

Would you return?
I told my frustration to guest relations staff. If they don't improve until my next stay, I'll go to Crowne Plaza Suzhou.

Bad

•Check In : no RA status recognition , room key issues (key activated for one night only without club access), no quiet room allocation (room with connecting doors & in front of elevators).

•Newspaper : some issues (late delivery , in room delivery without knocking on the door before entering).

•Minibar : one free minibar with softdrinks only, you have to order daily your replenishment and wine/spirits

•Upgrade : no guaranteed suite upgrade for RA with club room booking (hotel has only 2 suites so all depends on availability at check-in)

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
I feel comfortable returning to the IC Estoril and hope they’ll work out the kinks
