Frequently Asked Questions
Please read these before asking your question in the thread.
  1. Q. If I book a stay using IHG points, does that count as a "stay" towards my Into The Nights offers?
    A. No.

  2. Q. If I book a stay using a cash and points rate, does that count as a "stay" towards my Into The Nights offers?
    A. No.

  3. Q. Will stays booked via a consolidator (like TravelPony) or other public travel portal or points portal count towards this promo?
    A. No. Your stays must be booked directly with IHG on their website or on their app. However, if you are booking through your corporate portal at work, this may post if such stays usually earn you base points.

  4. Q. How long will it take for my points to post?
    A. Normally they post within a week or two.

  5. Q. How long after stay points post to my IHG account is it until my personal Into the Nights dashboard is updated showing progress in my offers?
    A. The Tuesday after the stay points post to account. (edit: has been Thursday lately, November)

  6. Q. Where can I find the Bonus Point package with Breakfast rate?
    A. Click here to book Bonus Points Package with (or without) Breakfast rate.

NOTE: Make sure that your email confirmation states something like this:

Rate Description: Exclusive to IHG Rewards Club members. Earn Faster with this package offer plus breakfast - Earn 5,000 bonus IHG Rewards Club points per stay when you book the 5,000 Bonus Point Package plus breakfast each day (breakfast for up to 2 adults sharing a room). Membership in IHG® Rewards Club is free! Points can be redeemed at any time for a variety of rewards, including free hotel stays starting at just 10,000 points, airline miles, name-brand merchandise and more. Book now to take advantage of this special offer!

Otherwise you booked the wrong rate type. This type of rate also comes in a 1000 point version.

  7. Q. I registered for this promotion before 10/20/2014 and my tasks changed! (E.g., "book a stay with the app" became "book 9 stays with the app").
    A. See this post from IHG's FlyerTalk representative.

  8. Q. Does a Holiday Inn Express stay count as a Holiday Inn stay?
    A. No

  9. Q. What are the conditions for the free nights being awarded?
    A. Free nights must be redeemed by December 31st, 2015 and must be claimed by January 31st, 2015 or members will automatically be awarded applicable points. Free Nights can only be used in participating IHG hotels and may not be transferred. A Free Night is valid only for one standard room night rate and applicable taxes (not including breakfast). Redemption is subject to availability of the rooms of hotels specially provided for this promotion. The hotel rooms hotels specially provided for this promotion shall be determined at IHG’s discretion.

  10. Q.I chose the 2 free nights award, how do I book them?
    A. Go to your My Account page on ihg.com (after logging in). On the left hand masthead you will see an option labeled "Free Night Status". The page will show how many free nights you have available and provides a way to book the nights. Note that it's a bit clumsy -- an initial search will show that the lowest price is Free, but until you click thru you won't know if it's really available for your preferred nights.

  11. Q. Can I trade the free nights?
    A. Not on FlyerTalk. They are specifically designated non-transferable.

Post #2585 has a link to the Dashboard. You can "Claim" free nights there.

Please update the FAQ as seems expedient.

HTB.
I stayed at the Holiday Inn LAX for my required breakfast rate. Wasn't bad for a one-time, one-night stay, but I wouldn't go out of my way to stay there again.

My wife stayed at a HI on 10/17-10/19 on a stay booked via the app. She received points for the stay last week, but still update on the Into the Nights webpage. The wiki says they should show updates on the following Tuesday (which is today) or in 10 days. So should we contact IHG if still no update 10 days from when the points posted to her IHG account?

I got my two free nights weeks ago and booked them both at the IC Hong Kong. Nothing appears out of the ordinary on the confirmation.

They stink. Why would you even do it, to get 2 more nights at the same crap?
Our frustration with the poor IT implementation of this promo aside, there are a number of positive things about IHG and their promos:

First, yes, I have been satisfied with many of my stays at Holiday Inns. The HI and CP brands can be hit-or-miss in terms of quality, which is frustrating. There are definitely some stinkers out there. I've found that looking carefully for newer or recently renovated properties increases the chance of success.

Second, the HIX brand is very consistent and can be found in smaller towns where fancier brand properties do not operate. Through the Crack The Case promo a few years ago I visited a number of HIX properties and found that they're better than other chains that server smaller towns.

Third, various IHG brands often serve as a lower price alternative to HH and MR properties. For example, in one of my frequent business destinations there's a Marriott I prefer to stay at, but sometimes the rate shoots past $200/night (pricey for the area) and I stay at a reasonable HI for $160 instead. In a few areas I visit on leisure, there are great weekend rates at downtown CPs -- even lower than the HIX, Hampton Inn, Courtyard, etc.

Fourth, I feel I can get decent value for my points with IHG. There are aspirational IC properties, CPs in destination areas, point stretcher bargains, and even a number of ordinary HI/HIX properties that become reasonable award choices when the number of points required is low.

There is only one BillyBaloney. When I say "I give up" that was directed to the people asking basic questions that have been covered time and time again and also in the WIKI.

WHICH confirmation? The web page confirmation or the email confirmation? If you read my post, my email confirmation looks fine. It is the confirmation page on the website that says it requires a voucher/coupon. So I can't interpret your answer.

Has anyone been able to book a room via a discount/group code and get credit? I'm curious as I'd like to maximize this as much as possible... AKA pay the least amount out of pocket.

Could someone please confirm which room rates are included in the promotion as "qualifying stays"; the terms are rather vague:

"A Stay constitutes a “Qualifying Stay” when paying qualifying rates, which include most business and leisure rates. Points are not issued for Stays at the following reduced room rates (Non-Qualifying Room Rates or Non-Qualifying Stay): net wholesale individual and group rate, certain package rates, employee discount rate, friends and family rate, crew rate, special discounted contract rates, seasonal worker/crew rate, 50% travel club discount rate, travel industry discount rate, distressed passenger rate, IHG® Rewards Club Reward Nights/Airline Hotel Reward rate, most rates booked through most third party web sites, complimentary hotel Stays and any other rates not defined as a Qualifying Room Rate at IHG’s discretion."

I am looking at a Holiday Inn hotel where the headline "best flexible rate" is £45. Alongside this there is also a bonus package for 1000 bonus points if I pay £50. However below this are some other rates, including "4000 Points HD PKG" for £55, with free cancellation until 4pm and no deposit. The rate description says, "Enjoy 4000 IHG Rewards bonus points when booking on this package. Rate is room only and is inclusive of VAT. Package includes 4000 loyalty bonus points automatically deposited to your account.May not be combined with additional offers."

This seems quite a fair offer, 4000 points for an extra £10, however will this rate qualify as a stay for "Into the nights"? How do I know if it is one of the "certain package rates"? Thanks.

New definition if a "stay"!

Might be of benefit to others but it would appear IHG have redifined what constitutes a "stay".
Background - I completed all tasks over 5 weeks ago now & everything tracked apart from one of my two required "extend your weekend" stays.

I've been in email communication with IHG since & they have just sent me this reply:

"your stay at Crowne Plaza xxxx xx was not counted since it was split into 1 night each with 2 different confirmation numbers. Please be informed that the Extend your Weekend tailored offer requires 2 qualifying stays which must include 2 or more nights with a Friday or Saturday night each."
Great isn't it!!
So both the IHG Rewards Club Membership T&Cs & this Extend your Weekend T&Cs are incorrect as they say:

"A Stay is defined per IHG Rewards Club Membership Terms and Conditions as one night or consecutive nights at the same hotel, regardless of frequency of check-in/out (“Stay”)"
Note too they say 2 or more nights with a Friday or Saturday night each.

They are unbelievable .

All of these will count for ITN stays.

Three of my HIX visits have been points package ones and counted with no issues.

Try searching for the 5000 bonus points packages as well sometimes these can be the same rate as the best flex. I had one in Aberdeen on Sunday where the 5k rate was £5 cheaper than the 1k points package.

best redemptions?

hi guys,

my friend just finished his "hard" promo goals:

stay 5 nights and earn too free nights

and now he did ask me where the best redemption would be. he is based in asia, so he could go to bali, hongkong, maledives, seychelles etc.

anybody of you could advice me which would be the most valuable redemption for him?

thank!

Thanks - it's good to know that points packages not listed alongside "best flexible" do also count.

How about "advanced saver"?
