What? You always had the choice to stay elsewhere, as you've just said. Circular argument.

No they're not. It's you that makes the booking, not them.

Eh? They're not interested in you personally, incredible though that must seem. You were already naive enough to put all your nights with them until now. You're hardly their target market.

You take a very simplistic view to what is a relatively complex global market. It is simple though, from a personal perspective: move your nights to the hotel brands that give you the optimal overall set of benefits for your travel schedule. To think that they're controlling your stay pattern is simply laughable.

They traditionally announce devaluations in the January-March timeframe. My bet is the second half of January 2014.

LOL same issue as Gagravarr here...

6 nights - 8,800 pts
1 best flex w/breakfast - 2,000 pts
4 stays thru IHG websites - 2,600 pts
views.dashboard.offer.dd.copy - 20,000 pts (!!)
survey the win - 100 pts
2 city life stays - 9,600 pts (plenty UK locations)
2 Saturday nights - 4,800 pts
big win complete all 7 - 48,000 pts
TOTAL - 95,900 pts

T&Cs on the weird one don't seem that enlightening!

For the previous promo, there was not a way to change. My Mother's account has the same problem. I changed both of our accounts back to points at the same time and she ended up with miles and I ended up with points.

I find it hard to believe too, but that's the case. BTW, *current* big win required 35 nights for 98000 points from me. And 4 saturdays. And 2 cities. So I got harder challenge, and fewer points in 2014. And in the first Big Win, I'll Big Win a total of 19100 points. Gee, thanks, IHG.

I guess that's what I get for being loyal. 76 paid nights in 5 brands and 85000 elite qualifying points, and another 7 nights and associated points pending till the end of the year.

5 nights should get me c. 60k next round, what with 5 one-night stays spread across two at Holiday Inns and at least one stay at a non-HI brand -- all booked on the mobile app and one booked as a flexible rate with breakfast.

If I do it right, probably do-able for under $500 all-in.

Previous Big Win for me was easier and around double the points.

My Mum (who did no stays on her last BW) got the easy one this time - 5 nights (any day), 3 brands inc 2 HIX's for 98,000. Should be able to knock this on the head for £200-£250, perhaps less if I wait until Easter when rates drop.

Mine was weak and my wife, who completed the last one, got a very obscure one which effectively was 'stay 3 Saturday nights in 3 different brands for 31,000'. Doesn't work for us given family commitments.

Why can't I find registration through IHG's website? I can't find it offers and I can't find it under my offers after I log in.

Does anybody know if currently confirmed reservations will count? I hate having to play the cancel and rebook game.

Mine is 174k!
Need to stay four separate nights at two different holiday inns and two different holiday inn expresses, a total of four nights including two Saturday night. No city requirements.

I saw one for 4 stays where the total promo benefit is less than 18k, and that was for someone who participated a little bit in the current promo.

That's it I'm going to living in IHG till April 31. PM if you need to checkin for cheap stays in China for about $30 per night.

I am a 10+ year plat with IHG. My 2013 offer was impossible to complete because I had the 4 stays in Australia and Japan ( I am US based and don't travel internationally for work) - I sent a complaint letter and was given 25,000 good will points. I completed all tasks except that one and a few saturday stays since I had no incentive to do so.

I am pleased with the new offer for 2014 as I should be able to do it no problem, however, the booking a best rate with breakfast is really lame as I don't ever need to book that rate. I'll make it work but it's pretty lame. I also assume the 3 nights at Holiday inns means just 3 separate stays at different Holiday Inn properties (not hix/staybridge/candlewood etc)

My offers:

1) Stay 26 nights 25,200 points

2) Stay at 4 brands 19,200 points

3)Book a best rate with breakfast (duh) 3,000 points

4)Survey 100 points

5)Book a stay with my IHG credit card 1,500 points

6)Stay 5 Saturdays 10,800 points

7)Stay at 3 Holiday Inn hotels 8,400 points

Complete all 7 and get big win 69,000 bonus.

Total of 68,200+69,000 = 137,200

I posted earlier my similar situation regarding breakfast, but look at that one as triggering a (net) haul of 72,000 for completing everything rather than just the 3,000 alone.

A little less this time, but easier

Big Win 2013 is for 98K points: 16 nights, 4 brands, 3 Saturdays, etc.

Big Win 2014 is smaller but easier:

* 9 nights - 10,000
* 4 brands - 12,800
* 1 Breakfast rate - 2,000
* 2 Saturdays - 4,800
* 5 mobile app bookings - 7,200
* 3 HI hotels - 5,600
* Win Big - complete all 6 - 42,000

Total: 84,400

Assuming the mobile app works on my Android phone, it's a better return on nights than in 2013: ~9,400 points/night, or about $65/night (@0.7¢/point).
