Per the PC T&C

Points for Elite Status – For purposes of determining Elite status, IHG® Rewards Club points are classified as either Qualifying Points or Non-Qualifying Points. Points earned from Qualifying Rates paid for hotel stays, spend on IHG® Rewards Club credit cards, select partner activity, IHG® Rewards Club Bonus Points Packages, and Qualified Spend through IHG® Business Rewards are considered Qualifying Points and are counted towards Elite status. A Qualifying Rate includes the following: non-discounted rate, standard corporate rate, worldwide sales negotiated rate, national/regional/local government rate and specified leisure rates as confirmed by the IHG reservation system. All other point earning transactions, including points earned from IHG® promotions, Elite status bonuses, activation bonuses or select promotions offered through IHG® Rewards Club credit cards, select partner promotions, point vouchers, point purchases, point transfers, and point deposits, will be considered Non-Qualifying Points and will not be counted towards Elite status.
For any IHG property, including the ones listed below, it's a good idea to check the IHG app for additional bonus point packages. For whatever reason, the IHG website does not always include all points packages that can be found in the app.

Hi, all! I just posted this on another related thread, but this is still one of the top results when Googling whether certain point packages are elite-qualifying with IHG, and I wanted to share some information; please forgive the copy-pasting, haha.

I had a one-night stay last year at a Holiday Inn in Milwaukee with a hotel-specific 10K point package. I called in advance to ask if those points would be elite-qualifying (I was merely Gold at the time but within striking distance of Platinum), and was told that they indeed would be. The rate description said the points would post within 10 days of checkout, but after two weeks, nothing had posted (elite-qualifying or otherwise). I called IHG support, and after being on hold for about 15 minutes, was told there was a problem with their system and they were unable to look up the details of the reservation, and to try again later. I decided since this was a slightly complicated issue, emailing might be better. In the end, I got a reply within 24 hours apologizing for the delay in the points posting, letting me know they'd been posted with elite-qualifying status, and congratulating me on Platinum status. All worked out well!

But now reading this thread, it made me wonder if this was a one-time fluke in my favor by an IHG employee who perhaps was being generous. I'm in the process of planning my travel for the next several months, and realized that with the right planning I can hit Spire if the 10K bonus point packages are always supposed to be EQP. Having much speculation but no definite answer here, I decided to email IHG directly, and I think you'll be happy with the results; in short, yes, all bonus point packages - even ones offered by individual hotels - count as elite-qualifying points.

Here is exactly what I sent to them; note the level of detail so there was no confusion as to what kind of point package I was referring to:

I understand that the points earned are elite-qualifying, and I may be able to hit Spire Elite by the end of the year if I plan correctly. But I notice that some bonus point packages seem a bit different from others, and I wanted to verify if all of them were in fact elite-qualifying.

For example, I plan to spend one night at the Crowne Plaza Columbus North - Worthington on [date]. I notice they have 1,000-point-per-night packages (including a “Your Rate” bonus point package), a 5,000-point-per-stay package, and a 10,000-point-per-night package. The 1,000 and 5,000 point package descriptions seem to be worded in a fairly uniform way, starting with “Exclusive to IHG® Rewards Club members”; I also notice that the bonus points are automatically included in the estimated point earnings. But the 10,000 point per night package, titled “10K IHG PT PACKAGE,” has a quite different description that seems to have been written by the individual hotel, and the bonus points do not show up in the earnings estimate. It seems like a package offered by the hotel rather than directly through IHG. Would these points still be elite-qualifying?
I'm not sure why, but I got two different responses (within minutes of each other) from two different IHG reps. Both were in the affirmative. Here is the first:
The 1,000 and 5,000 bonus points package is the same as the 10,000 bonus points, it is all qualifying points and counts toward your elite status. The only difference is the 10,000 bonus points is much higher in price. Also, the 1,000 and 5,000 points usually offer per night while the 10,000 is per stay.

There are instances that the 10,000 bonus points are not appearing on your estimated point earning. I would suggest that you take a screenshot of your reservation, in the event that the 10,000 bonus points did not post together with the points that you earn on your stay. We can manually post it here in the service center. Just send us the stay details.
And the second:
I would like to inform you that all bonus points package will be counted towards the elite qualifying points as per the terms and condition of the program. Even if it was offer by the individual hotel it still counts towards the elite qualifying points.
I hope this helps clear up any confusion; straight from IHG, all bonus point packages are indeed EQP. Happy status chasing!

My experience matches yours - they did not post automatically, but CS promptly issued them manually as qualifying points. Nice to have a couple reps responding to say that it's actually supposed to work innately, we weren't just lucky.

My 1,000 and 5,000 always post. The 10,000 I always have to call or do the live chat to get them to post! Worth my 10 minutes to get the 10,000 points

It did not clear the confusion. We all know IHG customer service is not knowledgeable and confuse things a lot. When there is one CS told you 5,000 bonus points is per night (when everyone knows it is per stay), you should take his/her word carefully.

But I prefer the website option. Sometimes I can find the hidden 5,000 Bonus points (i.e. HI Madrid Piramides, when you search normally, you sometimes find 5,000 Bonus points. But following the web link, you always find it).
Is there a list of properties, where 5000 points packages are available? Or that depends on the hotel and changes always?
Besides, never seen 10k points packages at all.

I only found 10K in north America.

There is no list for 5K bonus points. But:
1, Where the room rate is low and there are multiple hotels in the same area, it is more likely there are 5K per stay packages (or expand your search to 100miles! which is more effective)
2, all Holiday Inn Express in Europe, Asia Pacific and I think North America now, offers 3K per NIGHT if you book on the app:
Click on the room--choose YOUR RATE BY IHG REWARDS CLUB (the refundable rate)--You will then see the options of add either 1K, 2K or 3K per night.

These rates is a better value if you stay multiple nights in the same stay. A 3 nights stay could earn you at least 9K+normal earning. But if you are staying only 1 night, then 5K per stay is the best.

Thanks! I have seen 3k and 5k rates in Bangkok, but with no pattern: sometimes I get them on the app, sometimes not.

I know. Are they elite qualifying? If I'm paying this kind of $ out of my own pocket I'd need to be sure that they are elite qualifying.

You have been lucky, as the hotel/IHG Customer Service agents have incorrectly posted the points as qualifying points. According to the following, 'IHG Rewards Club Bonus Point Packages' up to 5,000 points are qualifying:

https://www.ihg.com/content/us/en/de...r_package.html

In addition, Loyalty Lobby discussed this subject at length:

In the comment section of that article this guy states:

"Most of the time hotels post the stay and the BPP are not included so members will need to send a missing stay adjustment form through the App. IHG's Customer Service Rep will then post it manually to the members account and should count towarda your elite qualifying points."

The 10k never posts to my account. I then do the online chat with the IHG representative. The only way they can post points to my account is under loyalty good will points. Now are those points qualifying? That's the only way they can post them. I will try to find out tomorrow with IHG.

I think IHG is all screwed up! I will keep booking and paying the extra money to get the 10k. I reach the 75k without it anyway.

So basically the representative needs to know if they points are qualifying or non qualifying when they post to someone's account! Most likely they have no idea and just make them qualifying!
