Please post your Priority Club Elite experiences (Archive Thread 2010)

I thought it might be useful to have a thread similar to the excellent Royal Ambassador experiences thread, but focusing on the Priority Club Elite experiences:

- What is your Priority Club status?
- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
- How are the rooms?
- How is the exec. lounge?
- What was good and what was bad?
- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

If you are an Gold or Platinum Ambassador, there is a dedicated thread for Ambassador Experiences.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes very much

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Standard room, and received a suite. I had to pay to get club access

How are the rooms?
Simply superb
Maybe the most elegant contemporary interior design of any IHG property I have stayed before (with renovated suites at IC Stockhom)
Large (around 90 sqm): bathroom, bedroom, dressing, living room
Separate walk-in shower & bath
Superb bathtub
Separate toilet
Very elegant furniture
2 flat screen TVs
Bose mini chain

How is the exec. lounge?
Quite large
Very quiet at the time I was there
Very good breakfast

What was good and what was bad?
Good
Great outdoor pool
Very easy access from airport (direct access via Terminal 3)
Very quiet
Superb contemporary architecture and design

Bad
Poor selection of international tv channels
No wifi in the rooms (but free wifi at Terminal 3; just ask for a code access at information desks of the airport)
Internet access in the rooms not included in the initial club access fare

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Yes, even with club access to be paid

First of all, welcome to Flyertalk!

Secondly, I would normally assume an Executive room is a level above a Deluxe room. Does it work differently in Russia?

Booked Standard room, received Executive Room

How are the rooms?
Nothing special, I have read in this forum that they are bigger than the Standard ones, great View from floor 23 though

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?
Good
Location close to metro station (Sokolniki)
Great Fitness center: Actually it is a private gym located in the hotel but run by an external company, so it can get a little bit crowded in certain hours where hotel guests meet Gym members.
Nice Restaurant on the 25th floor.
Bad
Confusing letter in the room from manager welcoming me and stating that due to the fact I was staying in an Executive room, I had access to the Executive Breakfast on the 25th floor restaurant, later to notice that anyone could access to that Breakfast paying an extra fee (I thought that it was free for Executive Rooms). Maybe my fault for not asking
Waited for 10 minutes in the Priority Check in Line to be attended, while other people behind me was attended in standard lines

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
It is quite difficult to find some good value for $ in my opinion but I will go again.

Thanks Stimpy, I have been reading the forum for some time and it has become the time not just to take benefit from it but to try to contribute.

Regarding the room levels, at the beginning I was also a little confused but as you can check below this is the way it is.

Booked Standard room, received Executive Room

How are the rooms?
Great. New, spacious and nicely decorated. New mattresses are installed and are very comfy. Best night sleep ever.

How is the exec. lounge?

N/A

What was good and what was bad?
Good
Location close to downtown, restaurants, other downtown attractions.

Several world junior hockey teams staying there, had breakfast at a table beside some of Team USA members. Made for an interesting morning coffee.

Front desk staff were amazing again (My flight arrived late, and I advised them that I would be late...so they pre-booked me a taxi and it was waiting at the airport for me. They had my room key prepared in advance...all I had to do was sign the form, so checkin at 1:30am took less than 30 seconds.)

Bad
Nothing that I can think of.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

Definitely worth it. This is now my tenth stay at this property, and I will continue to come back.

- What is your Priority Club status?

Platinum Amb

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a 1 KING BED SUPERIOR and I think we got that.

- How are the rooms?
Quite OK, enough space to move around. Comfortable bed. Large LCD TV but not that many channels IIRC. Bad shower pressure.

- How is the exec. lounge?
Don't know if there is one.

- What was good and what was bad?
Good
Very friendly and informative staff all around.
Breakfast has a good selection of food.

Bad
Not much that I can think of really.

-Misc. comments
Location is a 15 min walk to the nearest MTR station.
10 min walk from the canal that you can follow to go down to Clarke Quay and Boat Quay later on.
The temperature in the lobby bar was absolutely freezing compared to the heat outside.

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
I'd probably try the other HI near Orchard Road first. But I'd gladly return to the Atrium, I liked my stay there.

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes very much so.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a 1 DOUBLE BED STANDARD and we probably got just that.

- How are the rooms?
Quite large. Good bed. Furniture looks new.

- How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

- What was good and what was bad?
Good
Extremely friendly staff all around.
We arrived around 8am and were given a room, no questions asked.
Location is great I thought, a short walk from Southern Cross railway station. There's a tram stop around the corner. Mostly everything of interest in CBD is within walking distance anyway.
The breakfast has to one of the best I've ever had in any hotel I've stayed in. Good selection and incredible taste of freshness and yumminess.

Bad
Nothing that comes to mind.

-Misc. comments
I don't think we got any upgrade in terms of the room, but asking if a room is ready and getting it (with a smile) at 8am in the morning is great.

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
If I return to Melbourne I'll make sure to stay here.

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a 1 KING BED GARDEN VIEW, got upgraded to 1 KING BED PREMIER SUITE MOUNTAIN VIEW.

- How are the rooms?
Very good size. One bedroom with its bathroom and balcony, and a living-dining room with its kitchenette and balcony.
And the most important feature, a second toilet !

- How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

- What was good and what was bad?
Good
Nice and friendly staff at checkin and lobby bar.
Laudromat inside the hotel, very useful.

Bad
Breakfast was a bit poor, selection can certainly be improved.

-Misc. comments
The rooms with the mountain view are very quiet as there's a golf next door.
Swimming pool (with a peacock wandering around) in the middle of the complex, but we didn't try it out.
It is possible to walk to downtown ASP, but it will take you 20 min and it is hot out there. Otherwise a taxi will do, or your own car if you don't spend too much time at The Saloon before returning to the hotel.
There is a thai restaurant opposite the reception, but we didn't go there.

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
A good choice, I would return.

Holiday Inn - Kingston South, UK

After 50 nights in 2009 time for another update....

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Becoming less so.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard room (through corporate TA) and am often given standard room. However, on only three occasions was I refused an executive room when asked for or reminding them of my Plat status.

How are the rooms?
Small, fashionable (will soon be outdated), and already starting to show signs of wear.
Avoid standard rooms on the east side of hotel as they have no view (unless you count the side of a building 20 feet away)
324 - This is either under or next to a main aircon unit and there is a noticeable hum.
Executive rooms -
201, 301 - Corner (curved balcony) are big, have small doubles but do not have an adjustable chair at the desk.
221 - Corner exec room with king size bed. Very cramped, but does have an adjustable chair at the desk.
111, 211 - Immediately above hotel entrance and are relatively noisy. Larger than other rooms, have small doubles, but are very cold in winter.

How is the exec. lounge?
There isn't one.

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Location to my office (although that is unlikely to help you).

Bad:
Housekeeping is inconsistent - you may or may not get toiletries, towels, room cleaned, etc.
Standard rooms - an empty mini fridge
Exec room now only have water as the complimentary items.
Despite the website saying it's free they are now charging 12 GBP for 24 hours/200MB wireless internet access.
Tax is deducted twice before calculating points.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Poor value for money but due to the lack of alternatives in the area, I'll be back every week for the next three months.
Final update - I've finally had enough of this hotel. The "no exceptions" to chargeable internet means that my 15k GBP annual spend at this property will go elsewhere.

Very much.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard room for the kids (redemption for a promo last summer)
Booked a club room for us (72 hour Asia sale)
- received club room & upon request, kids were also upgraded to the club floor, hotel was very quiet upon our 11 PM arrival on Christmas eve ^

How are the rooms?
Quiet dated but our Club room junior suite was spacious & comfortable,
kids were snug in their twin room
.

How is the exec. lounge?
A/C was not working that day, food was adequate, requested native cakes & fresh mango not on the buffet & graciously had some sent up from the cafe

What was good and what was bad?
Good: Location, Upgrade for the kids, spacious jr suite

Bad:
Rooms are dated, toiletries were inadequate for multiple guests , food at the coffee shop was so so

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Stayed 6 days after Christmas through the New Year- Happy.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a 2 BR suite upgraded to the Penthouse suite

- How are the rooms?
Very spacious, jaccuzi in the 2nd level,3 full baths- 2 large bedrooms, dining area, bar area- we comfortably fit 7 people in the suite- with 2 complimentary beds, couch long enough for tall son, however it was very much showing its age- water temp was very inconsistent

Suite pre booked for New Year's eve so needed to move to a 2 BR suite & deluxe room (same rate) then back again to the suite the day after- move all day- wasted 2 days mostly because of that

- How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

- What was good and what was bad?
Good
*Price- 2+1 rate was a great buy
*UPGRADE !
*No fuss check in for a change- had numerous correspondences with reservation staff & my friend the Sales Manager involved in the arrangements
*Great service, 4 complimentary breakfasts, Lots of selections for breakfast
*Wifi weekly plan the best buy, comped extra beds

Bad
The last time we were in this property was about 4 years ago before the opening of its next door neighbor Crowne Plaza which has now been our regular hotel- noted that the facilities are showing its age, carpets stains, bed fabric head boards with questionable stains too, in dire need of a face lift
You can get tired of having to tip all those who help you through out the day

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Looking forward to the scheduled renovation. Yes
