Please post your Priority Club Elite experiences (Archive Thread 2007)

I thought it might be useful to have a thread similar to the excellent Royal Ambassador experiences thread, but focusing on the Priority Club Elite experiences:

- What is your Priority Club status?
- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
- How are the rooms?
- How is the exec. lounge?
- What was good and what was bad?
- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

If you are an Gold or Platinum Ambassador, there is a dedicated thread for Ambassador Experiences.

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes
- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked lowest cost room at 60 euro. Got upgraded to full suite, separate living room, microwave above refrigerator/minibar.
- How are the rooms?
Two full-size beds in long and narrow bedroom. Living room is decent size. Average Holiday Inn furnishing.
- How is the exec. lounge?
Don't think there is one.
- What was good and what was bad?
Unexpected upgrade, very nice fruit plate delivered quickly, better quality and quantity than at some ICs. Free overnight parking, free movie.
- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Would return if I have a car, as the hotel is located in a mixed business and residential area, public transportation is probably difficult. By car, it is probaby about 10 minutes from FRA.

Yes

[/B]- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?[/B]
Company booked me a standard room for five nights. I emailed in advance requesting a NS room and an upgrade if available. I was upgraded from a standard room to an exective room on the first floor.

[/B]- How are the rooms?[/B]
The room itself was nothing spectacular. Usual executive room extras like robe, slippers, scales and more importantly a free bottle of water and a chunky kit-kat bar every day. Also has a stocked mini bar which the standard rooms do not.

The best rooms in this hotel are the corner rooms IMO as they are a bit bigger.

[/B]- How is the exec. lounge?[/B]
None
[/B]- What was good and what was bad?[/B]
Good hotel all round, 1 minute from Russell Sq tube station. Cheap food and drink in callaghans pub (chargable to room).
Bad - Early departure fee of 50% of remaining nights attempted to be added to reservation not visibile on PC website. As long as your reservation makes no reference to an EDF you should be able to talk them out of this.
[/B]- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?[/B]
Company pays so don't care. I would definately return though.

HI El Paso Airport

- What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, a full service hotel easily accesible to airport and in the middle of ELP

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a standard King room on Gov't rate. Was upgraded to Concierge level Executive room ^ w/club access.

- How are the rooms?
The room is nice, pretty much the same room I booked but with the upgraded amenities (robe, slippers, toiletries, etc) and a better view of pool

- How is the exec. lounge?
Very good. Hot breakfast in the morning, apps at night and free drinks (2 per guest) at night.

- What was good and what was bad?
Good - I was allowed to bring my coworker (who didn't get upgd to club level) with me at night for drinks. He too was given 2 free drinks.

Bad- Had to work for the "Battlefield" upgrade. They really don't like to upgrade to suites / club level even if they are available.

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Excellent value for money and I would (and have) returned.

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
No, it's a little run down, only two elevators for 12+ stories one of which was broken the whole time.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a standard King room . Got no UG. Not sure if there was a Club floor or not, there was no indication of one

- How are the rooms?
The room was clean and comfortable, but each day there was something askew in the bathroom, like one day no washcloths were provided.

- How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

- What was good and what was bad?
Bad: I got one coupon good for one beer or wine in the small lobby bar. Didn't use it, and that was pretty insulting as a Plat benefit

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
No, we will not go back there

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
I have no complaints at all for the money spent – Quite happy.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a standard double room for USD119 and upgraded to a club floor suite.

How are the rooms?
For the age of the property, the room was quite nicely appointed, and had a separate living area furnished with a wet bar (minibar was obviously removed at some point), working area, couch, chairs, etc. The amenities included consistently restocked bottled water and the standard CP bathrobes, ‘red baggies’, etc. Living area had its own half bath as well…

How is the exec. lounge?
Quite nice. Visited for breakfast on two mornings, but missed evening cocktails due to my work schedule.

What was good and what was bad?

Good:
Although I called ahead requesting the upgrade, for the money spent, I was very happy.

The property was close to work, which was nice. ‘Could have booked the Hyatt for USD 360 / night, but no points there…

Bad:

The Presidential Suite was right next door, and I wasn’t upgraded into it…

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Great value, and I would return.

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked second lowest category, a deluxe room. Got confirmed advance upgrade to Club floor with club access.

How are the rooms?
Not very big, certainly no room for a roll-away. Decent quality furnishing, standard for this level property.

How is the exec. lounge?
The Club is quite large, two floors, morning breakfast (our stay was during a low period in the holidays, and at check-in was informed that we could have our breakfast in the main restaurant on the lobby level), afternoon tea and evening cocktail hours.

Two internet computers in upper level individual cubicle/small room.

Club access comes also with two daily pressings, free soda/beer in in-room minibar.

What was good and what was bad?
The breakfast buffet was okay, with Asian and Western selections. Typical 3-4 star hotel offering. Good service, overall. This appears to be a hotel used by many airlines, we saw crews from KLM, UA and perhaps one other airline overnighting at this property.

The location is a bit out of the way, not very near subway station. However, taxi is always available and inexpensive. The neighborhood is primarily residential and commerical catering to locals, we did not find any significant shopping center/food court, ...etc.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Yes, good value considering the room rate of around RMB$800.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a Junior Suite for USD109 and upgraded to the Ambassador suite.

How are the rooms?
Not one of the nicer suites that I’ve had in HI chains, but certainly not bad, either. Room has a spacious sitting area with a couch and chairs. Posting from room now, and amenities include two small bottles of water and two bags of munchies. Not sure if they will be replaced.

How is the exec. lounge?
No club, but the restaurant and lounge are on the 12th floor, and are nice for a HI. Nice view.

What was good and what was bad?

Good:
Little effort to upgrade. Was not automatic, but didn’t have to pull teeth, either. Any suite that has a ‘name’ posted outside the door is usually one of the better rooms in any hotel, so I didn’t get a bad upgrade. Received some coupons upon check-in for free drinks and discounted dinner.

Bad:
There are no free electrical outlets at the work area, and the bed has seen better days.

Once again, the Presidential Suite is right next-door, and I wasn’t upgraded into it.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Indeed.
