I think that exactly what will happen.

I see no changes in the terms which make this better for platinum members. The upgrade won't be guaranteed and points have massively fried up as well.

No hotel scheme changes for the better!

With all the PCR points that IHG gave away with promotions such as 'Crack the Case', various other promotions and credit card bonuses, the number of platinum members exploded.

I suspect that many of the franchise holders pushed back at IHG to lower the number of platinum members.

I'm not sure about that since IC doesn't need to give any perk to Plats, HIE, CW, SB don't really have to give much more than 2 bottles of water in the US.

Plus you don't entitle to any perk if you are staying on points.

Before this change, I bought extra points with my Ambassador renewal because they would qualify for next year's status.

I wonder what the chance of getting a refund on them is!

PC Plat isn't that great for me, so I wouldn't really miss it anyway given the meager and inconsistent nature of benefits delivery to me as a Platinum. PC Gold will remain available on the relative cheap, not that I see it doing me much of any good.

I am content enough with the point earning and point redemption situation with PC that the PC Plat status earning changes won't make a difference in what I do with ICHG.

I recall reading a marketing report from PCR where they were delighted at how a handful of codes leaked into the public domain found their way to 1000's of users globally as they mapped who registered. So PCR was crazy like a fox trying to manage revenue with points incentives. Guess it was too successful if they are trying to weed out points earned Plats.

That's my thought too.

I did hit top tier with Hilton, Hyatt, Starwood, Marriott and IHG a few years ago and that was too much for me. In the other hand, if I was a single I wouldn't have mind.

Details of what is a qualifying point has now been put up

http://www.priorityclub.com/hotels/u...er-terms#elite

Looks like base points only, and no changes (positive or negative) to the program

But they state that "Future bonus/benefits for Gold and Platinum members may vary."

Ironically, had a very good Plat stay at CP Festival City in Dubai this week - free internet, late check-out (was told 6pm would be OK!), 4 free drinks vouchers (my kids got one each as well as the parents). Genuine enthusiastic welcome as a Plat. Couldn't upgrade as already booked a suite due to kids.

When it works, it works well. Perhaps everywhere will be like this when the benefits get adjusted.

So if you stay 49 nights with an average of 2-3 nights at an European IC you won't become Platin, while the HIX customer with the same travel patterns will.
Looks like the North Korean school of marketing succeded.

Same with me. It turned out to be a huge mistake.

I think the revamp is not finished yet.

There is a good chance of Ambassador benefits extended to all crowne plaza hotels.

Including 2000 points per stay in Europe?
