Sorry for the delay folks. Yes, I have stayed there. It was only a few days after they opened up actually in early May. It's a great location regarding public transport. It is in a "complex" that includes the Idigo hotel and a youth hotel, and a not-yet-complete section that I think will contain hotel-like apartment rentals. It sits just up the street from the Alexa shopping mall, just before Mollstr. intersection.
Well, it still needed things done when I satyed there. They were still finishing up some rooms, doing some painting, and such. The rooms are maybe a little bigger than a HIX room, but with better furniture inside. The bathroom was more detailed than a HIX, and it had a walk-in shower. The one gripe I have is that they use that sliding glass door concept with the extrememly small closet. (When the bathroom door is closed the closet is exposed, and vice versa.) And there is a gap in the wall between the door and the bathroom. It's too small to put your hand through it, but large enough to hear what's going on inside. But one nice thing about the rooms is that the windows tilt open. I had a room on the exterior, so I could see the center section of Alexanderplatz all the way to the Rote Rathaus. One bad thing about the room was that there was no clock in the room, nor is the time shown on the TV's bottom frame. So I mainly used the clock on the Rathaus tower to tell time.
The front desk staff is extremely friendly and helpful. And one of them used to work at the HIX on Stresemannstr. and recognized me when I walked in. Internet access is free for everyone. And I booked a rate that included breakfast. The breakfast buffet has an omlet station. But it isn't manned by a cook, so you have to ask for it to be made, and they will get someone. The buffet station is square-shaped with enough offerings to fill you up. The one problem I had was that nothing put out in the bowls was covered. No sneezeguard. Nothing. But when I commented about it at the FD, I was kind of given the impression that those items have not been delivered yet. And although I was recognized as a platinum member, there was no welcome gift. At the other HIs in Berlin, I usually get a small fruit basket. Maybe that will change soon when they're more up-and-running.
Overall, the hotel works. I will definitely stay there again.

Some images from my last stay
My stay was in June 2012.
Generally I liked the hotel. The staff was friendly and professional, my room was really nice. I had a bathtub instead of a shower which is a diffrence to the usual rooms.
As mentioned before, the hotel is quite new and there were some traces of construction going on.
The restaurant was really good. They offer vietnamese food which was excellent with reasonable prices.
Views from the room. (Floor 8)
Executive Room

Yeah it is. I just hope that it stays that way. The IC brands in Berlin have a points redemption that makes no sense. The IC is 30K, the HIX three blocks away is 25K. And the CP in the same neighborhood is 35K!!! Unfortunately, part of my stay there was over the weekend, where the rate basically doubled from the weeday rate-- which is becoming the trend for Berlin hotels all around-- but reward stay nights were not loaded into the system yet.

I asked the lady on the reception if these fares are specials because of the recent opening. I am afraid that is the case. The prices will be raised during the next months. She things there will be fares starting from about 95 EUR.
Considering the location and the quality it is reasonable. In my experience hotel prices in Berlin are raising in general.

I knew it wouldn't last forever. It first was 15K when it opened up in May last year. Then it went down to 10K in the spring. But since it sits side-by-side in the same building as the Indigo, I figured that it was only a matter of time before it went up, since they would never lower the award level of the Indigo. And using twice the amount of points to stay there as opposed to the HI seemed silly.

What are the thoughts on this hotel's location? My understanding is that it's very well located for public transport, but that the hotel's immediate vicinity is pretty boring and that I'm going to need to the public transport to get to somewhere more exciting. We're the types who like to have lots of restaurant and bar options right around the hotel.
