As per the T+Cs, the £99 fee is credited in the second month.

A curiosity: I got an authorised user card from my wife's account. The card number is entirely different (i.e. the last 8 digits are completely different).

I'm just trying to work out whether 2 PC points per £ on this card is better than our grandfathered 1.2 BA Avios per £ with the Tesco MC for our general non-Amex spend. I don't think we'll get to £10,000 spend for a free night.

There's an e-mail today promoting weekend breaks. It also has this link:
New Release

Introducing the brand new
Priority Club® Rewards
Black Visa®.
Clicking on, the opening offer is for 40,000 PC points. No first year fee free, though.

This link was in a general PC marketing email so probably good for everyone

You get the 40,000 points but no £99 fee waiver, unfortunately, so your 8,000 Avios will be 1.25p each. Not worth rushing for.

No chance - I calculate it to be 0.4 Avios per £1 spent, so a third of what you get on your Tesco card.

Many thanks for the reply; was wondering whether the second month credit for the fee (which I had noted) would come before or after my direct debit which also gets taken after the middle of my second month. You are a few days ahead of me so much obliged for the update.

Thanks for this, which confirms my thinking.

Looks like we'll keep the card for a while in case we get to any UK IHG hotels (unlikely), then dump it before the year is up.

This is tempting, although she wants to keep a PC credit card longer than a year and also not pay the annual fee. So I wondered... any chance of being able to downgrade to the standard card after say 11 months?
I rang and asked this question and was told that you could downgrade before renewal, we'll see!

Thanks - sounds like a no-brainer then! Worst case, the card get cancelled after 9 months!

Well am not a happy bunny. As I posted above our £99 fee was debited on the statement cut off date, as we pay in full by direct debit each month we will have to pay it. I was told the fee would be refunded in a few days.

Nearly three weeks later still not credited and next statement date approaching fast. I sent a "contact us" message online yesterday and asked when it would be credited. I also asked them to reply by email as we are out of the Country just now.

What do they do, tell me to phone customer services

Is the contact us on the website not customer services? Did they not even bother to read my simple query properly?

This way they get at least some turnover from you - you will need to spend £99.

I read it as though its credited automatically on the next statement date.

OK, then. From the leaflet accompanying the snailmail upgrade offer:
YOUR FIRST 12 MONTHS FREE
When you upgrade we will credit your account with £99 to cover your first year's annual fee.
(The fee will be taken at the end of the first month. But don't worry, we'll credit your account the following month as promised.)
It doesn't say when in the month the credit will take place. The first statement has a payment due date. I wouldn't want to risk the refund not hitting the account by that date, so we have paid the amount due. We've never had a missed or late payment and I don't plan to have one now.

I signed up (late Jan) using the link in the first post, did not receive the snail mail flyer.

I got 40,000 points (not hit my PC account yet though ) and was charged £99 on the first statement (first week Feb)

I've just received the refund of the £99 fee^ and my second statement is not due until first week of March.

I'll wait until the second statement is billed before I chase up the 40K points as others seem to say it actually does take 4-6 weeks before posting.

Thanks to the OP ^
