I used to do this with the PC card previous to this one (Was that one with Barclays?)-though there was only one card choice then.

IIRC I had to wait 12 months after closing before applying again

As it's a different card you may be able to churn quite quickly.
I may give that a go myself

I wonder if the /jan12 link will still work for bonuses and "free" first year for the PC BLack card?

I know in the past for the (old) PC card there were links for 10K, 20K and 25K that seemed to still work well beyond their "expiry"

If the system is completely automatic it may be worth giving it a shot if you're thinking about getting the card.

I had the PC Visa and was told I was unable to upgrade to PC Black Visa and get the 25000 bonus points. Out of principle I cancelled my PC Visa and was told I would have to wait 6 months before applying for PC Black Visa. In February my colleague got a targeted link for PC Black with 40000 points plus fee refund. Even though I had just cancelled I applied, was accepted and have already received my bonus points and refund.

My Mrs got this as well. Tempted to apply closer to 6 June so that the fee refund (theoretically) hits the first statement.

That said, many good ones at present:
20k SPG with SPG Amex
Hilton free night voucher with Hilton
20k AA with AA MBNA
11,500 LH with M&M MBNA

Not sure if it'll work - I applied with the previous offer and they didn't credit it until my 3rd statement (and I had to hassle them) - I think they purposely make sure the refund doesn't go on the same statement as the charge to make sure that you spend at least another £99!

Not to mention the regular 20k/24K with the bmi MBNA Amex which will now be redeemable 1:1 for BA Avios.

For the sake of relevance, today I moved all my regular spend on the PC Black Visa to the long negelcted bmi Mastercard now that I know the miles will have a home

MBNA are not brilliant, but I will not miss the woeful customer service of Barclaycard.

Haha - that same thought ran through my head.

The 40k points on the previous offer posted to my account yesterday.

Has anyone managed to apply for both the PC and Hilton cards in quick succession? They're both issued by Barclays, so wonder if they'll give you both?

Thanks!

Mrs Roger and I cancelled our cards last week and feel cleaner.

Simple-ish process. The FAQ's say to call to cancel. We did and all seemed OK. There's a curiosity, though.

Snailmail letters turned up informing us thet they had 'stopped' our cards and that the cards would be 'closed' when we've 'completed ALL of the following:
- Our Customer Services department has received written confirmation of the closure.
- You've paid all your balance in full.'

OK about paying off the balance. Strange that they now require written confirmation after we followed the advice in the FAQs to call.

So just a heads up: it appears that the account remains open unless you do the final bit. If you don't, I guess this could potentially affect credit standing in due course.
