IC: SAMUI BAAN TALING NGAM RESORT -Thailand

The owners cannot open this property in time for the Christmas/New Year season.

Reservations are being taken from 16th Feb 2012 with a B&B Opening Special starting at THB6320++, approx US$250 net.

I stayed here when it was managed by Royal Le Meridien Hotels & Resorts and look forward to a return visit.

What's your source for this information?

I have been in contact with the property for some weeks and they have booked me in in January, maintaining an opening on Dec 5, despite online booking taking reservations after Feb 16 only. I take their word for it... ;)

In June I sent an email to the Samui sales manager, based in the IC Bangkok.

I was hoping to stay in December but was not able to make a reservation and was advised to keep watching the website for the official opening date.

I will try again, maybe they have a soft opening in December. Good news, thx Chinatrvl:p

I have a reservation there for 10 days arriving December 5.
I booked per Email a few weeks ago and reconfirmed just 2 days ago.

They also mentioned that for the Period between december 5 and January 15 booking cannot be done online
No soft Opening, they confirmed all the rooms, pools and restaurant will be open by then. I tend to trust them as it is very common in Thailand to have openings on "auspicious" days such as 5 december or 12 August.

Maybe because of the fact that the hotel
- officially doesn't open until February, 2012,
- only takes online reservations from mid Jan, 2012,
- only takes direct reservations via phone or email from Dec 5, 2011
- and is not open at all before Dec 5, 2011?

The 6.4K THB special from mid Feb is okay with breakfast for 2.

Months later there is a10.4K THB "opening rate" for dates in Aug 2012 which isn't exactly cheap any longer considering one pays 21% tax and service charge on top of that. Ohh well, I'm looking at a summer trip next year so still some time for prices/ rates to stabilize. Nice to have another resort location in Thailand opening though.

My recollection was an opening in November, but I called IC Reservations and they confirmed the February 15 opening.

Used to be a lot cheaper when it was a meridien hotel. I hope the renovation is up to the rate hike.

Yup, pricing on par with IC Hua Hin at peak season. The refurb better be awesome.

Regarding rates at the IC Baan Taling Ngam, I just booked a four night stay in June 2012 in one of the Panaramic 2 BR villas (which I think is 200-250 sq. mtrs) for 17,000 baht for three persons, inclusive of breakfast. Not cheap, but reasonable given the expansive room size.

Does anybody have some recent news about the opening of the resort?

After the trouble the Thai economy might face with the flood (yes, not in Samui), there might be a lack of national ressources (supply of components, specialised workforce).

I plan a stay end of March and should start to organize my flights.

Thank You

I have emailed the hotel, they will open on 1st feb, some facilites such as SPA and Sauna / Steam rooms may not be open on this date.

How does one book on the introductory special rate?

Im making my travel plans for 5th Feb, and am considering this or the Hua Hin IC, any reccomendations?
