It seems the policy changed again. Checked in yesterday for my first stay as Spire, and was told that as of this month they abandoned the policy to give Spires club acces. I was able to persuade them to give me a one time exception. Really nice club lounge. Almost worth paying for.

I was just there last week. I'm only a Platinum member so I didn't get anything, no breakfast included. My room was with a queen bed, small but then I'm used to the traditional Japanese hotels. Nothing special, I will probably find another place to stay next time.

Stayed here in February 2023 - got upgraded to a mini-Japanese style suite and it was great.. The room was well renovated and a big washroom - along with a separate toilet room.
My company rate included buffet breakfast that was out of this world. Kids and I ate and ate and ate so much!!
If you get the renovated rooms then worth the money - overall much cheaper than comparable hotels in Canada that I've stayed at.

So I booked a premium queen with lounge access. When I arrived they took me up to the club lounge for check in, but then they told me they made a mistake and I did not qualify for the club lounge. My room is on the 23rd floor which is the club floor. Anyone know the difference between the club lounge and lounge access rooms? From what I can see the only other lounge is a basic restaurant downstairs. This booking was more expensive than the club lounge queen as well which is why I am confused.

Hi,
I would have thought that if the room description said 'with lounge access' you should be given lounge access.
I would query this ( and show a copy of your email reservation saying lounge access)

So I booked it awhile ago and seem to have forgotten the rate. Went to the desk and asked and they said my actual reservation was for an upgraded single room without lounge access. Since I am plat they upgraded me to the premium single, but I only get to use the room and not the lounge with the upgrade even though it says the room type comes with lounge access. Did not make much sense, but the manager was firm on that. I asked what would be the cost to use the lounge and they quoted 7,000 yen or just under $50 which was crazy and was not going to pay that just for breakfast. Just another reason for me to book Hilton since they actually reward Diamond members with free breakfast.

If you are Diamond with IHG you would have had the option to choose breakfast as your welcome amenity. The hotel should have given you the three options for the welcome amenity 1) Points 2) Welcome Drink or 3) Breakfast, and you choose one. So I see little difference with Hilton if you are Diamond in both programmes. In fact IHG gives you more options.
