This is not an Executive Suite.
If you go to the IC BKK website and pull up the photo gallery http://www.ihg.com/intercontinental/.../photo-gallery
The Exec Suite (bedroom only) is shown in photo 63 of 85. One distinctive feature is the open "window" with blind between the bathroom (and bath) and the bedroom, so you can watch TV in the bath. The room is clearly described as an Exec Suite on the IC website too.
Unless the naming has changed recently but on my recent visit when I made clear the suite I really wanted I was told it was an Exec Suite and that was the type I had on my last visit too.

Flying into and out of Bangkok spanning 11nights at end of May (09:00 Thurs 29th May -> 12;00 Mon 9th Jun) so booking IC Bangkok both arrival+departure ends of my trip.
o Arrival - Standard Room upgraded online within 1hour to Club Room King, for just the one night I arrive from Europe.
o Departure - For my weekend wait for my Monday return flight I used BOGO to book Corner suite Sat-Mon.
Decided on this approach as last time a bogo of King Club here just moved me up 1-level to corner Suite room, will see what hopefully happens this time. (The two room corner suite doesn't really work for me, small living room, bigger bedroom )

I can only assume the naming convention has changed since then, the photos on the website show the bedroom of the Exec suite with the distinctive window through to the bedroom. I was also told when I stayed just over a week ago that the proper 2 room suite is an Exec suite.

Right, the room on the video just looks like an oversized room. A proper suite, to me at least, has more than just the bathroom and bedroom, there should be a living/sitting room.

I checked in today. i had booked a club room for two nights on the IHG Special rate. They upgraded me to a Diplomatic Suite (3301). This is a REALLy nice suite I think. Almost too big, since I have a couple of times walked around trying to figure out where I placed my phone

IHG Special, which is the one they use during low season. So nothing fancy with it, it just appears among all other rates.

Not fully booked, since this is low season and it's my first time here. The woman escorting me to my room said that they gave me this nice upgrade for me to try it out, since it's my first time. Who knows... I had to wait about 15 minutes to get it, so I waited in the club lounge.
I have booked a club room next weekend as well, so I'll report back what i get then. I'd be surprised if they gave me this suite again. Been a good year. Got a Royal Suite at Le Grande earlier this year as well. :P

We got the Diplomatic Suite on an upgrade last year too. We'd booked a Club Suite using my Ambassador 2 for 1 certificate and got upgraded from that.
It is a massive suite - probably the largest suite I've stayed in. We were only there for 2 nights but had no use for the dining room....

Good one. From what I heard occupancy is still somewhat depressed so maybe they are a tad more generous at the moment.
