I thought every AMB received complimentary internet chain wide at IC anyway- so what the difference will be is local calls (not worth much in Thailand where on your mobile calls are practically free as it is) and 2 pcs of laundry per stay (not per day). Correct?

Isn't free internet a Royal Ambassador benefit rather than an Ambassador benefit ( as well as IHG Platinum now iirc )

Prior to 1st July 2013 change, Free Internet at IC Hotel's was a benefit for Royal Ambassadors only (and was not an Ambassador benefit).
From 1st July 2013, PCR/IHG Golds/Platinums also receive free internet access at both IC and non-IC hotel brands.
Since Ambassador grants GOLD if status not yet obtained by nights/points, Ambasadors will get free internet from 1st July.
Whether staying at IC/CP/HI/HIX brands be prepared that only the slowest speed is for free.
Prior to this July, as RA, despite RA t+c on website saying entitlement if multiple speeds was to slower rate for free, the dozen or so IC's I stay at all offer and gave their fastest internet free to me as an RA.
For July2013 same applied at IC Berlin, as RA, I was allowed the fast 20euro/day rate, instead of having to use the slower and now free 256KB rate.

Just completing two stays here, a week apart. I loved the lounge and the friendly lounge staff who provided exceptional service.
1)Discounted company rate, Standard Grande Deluxe room, upgraded to King Club Room with Lounge Access.
2)Bogo booking King Club, upgraded to King Club Suite (also referred to as Corner Suites) Situated at either end of each floor.
Looks like a small number of specialist suites, Royal/Diplomatic/Ambassador which I guess are exempt for Ambassador upgrades and to book one needs ring hotel direct.
Guessing booking top online room "KING BED CLUB INTERCONTINENTAL SUITE" will not get one an RA/Ambassdor a room upgrade to a special suite???
3)As RA what room do I need to book to get the "KING BED CLUB INTERCONTINENTAL SUITE" instead of "KING BED CLUB INTERCONTINENTAL"
I defintely plan/want to return here again later this year.
Room types look to have just the 4 price level categories................
GRANDE DELUXE/STANDARD ROOM (1st Category
EXECUTIVE DELUXE (2nd category)
CLUB INTERCONTINENTAL/NTERCONTINENTAL DELUXE ROOM (3rd Category)
KING BED CLUB INTERCONTINENTAL SUITE (4th & top Category)

That is a 1 level upgrade..... checking out of the hotel today. Lounge is still great(IE club). Sunday brunch is one of the best anywhere, or firday/saturday night buffet is great...... food and bev manager is doing and amazing job.
enjoy your stay.
if you are there for a few days, and want to eat at the hotel.....buy the preferred dining card from the hotel. food discounted 50% 1 or 2 meals pays for it....... even as a solo traveler, you get the 50% discount(IE me for business)

I have the free night certificate from Chase on renewal of credit card. With Platinum status, would it include free breakfast? I know each hotel is different but wondering if any Plat member received it?
If not, what kind of upgrade is given?

I know because when I asked during my June visit about RA upgrade on a free weekend night if I booked extra nights on a coming weekend, the IC BKK Lounge girls asked what type of free night voucher I was going to use.
When I said Ambassador weekend BOGO where one pays the first night on flex rate + then gets next night free, Lounge said RA upgrades, bennies will be honoured.
Lounge girls said reason they asked is that non-paid free nights, eg creditcard freenights, being totally unpaid voucher, will not get any upgrades or benefits.

Seems like the Executive Room option is not showing any longer at least I can't pull it up for coming weekend. Odd one as all other rooms are on offer.

I stayed there recently on points and got the room upgrade + lounge access. I thought the lounge was absolutely spectacular--views, food, and service. Great gym. Arguably the best hotel location in Bangkok. Just top notch throughout.

That's great - straightforward appreciation! It's a fine hotel which treat RA guests very well. Probably best to ignore the minutiae of room dimensions and categories, and simply enjoy your stay.

Is it worth upgrading to Ambassador status for an upcoming stay at this hotel? Sounds like upgrade does not guarantee lounge access for Ambassadors. Don't really care about the suites...
Also is this a non-smoking hotel? If not how is the smoke situation in public areas? Smoke is something I cannot tolerate.

Great hotel.... Never actaully saw smoking here, although not saying there arent designated areas. I hate smoke and would know if it was aroung, never saw it anywhere..... Rooms are good, although not a new property. Location is the best you can ask for. I have always been in a standard room on high floors as my RA upgrade(dont know what ambassadors get)
Lounge is great, with amazing views. Snacks, wine and breakfast are all good there, one of the bettter IC lounges.

BOGOF Voucher and upgrades? Confused.com
Ok my head is hurting now. I've read pages and pages of posts (probably 60 or 70 maybe even more) and i'm so confused.
Hubby and i going to IC Bangkok Thurs Fri Sat late December. He holds Ambassador status and we are using Ambassador Free Weekend night certificate.
If i book an Executive room will we be upgraded to Club? Not interested in a Suite but we really, really would like Club access.
Also booking online through the AMB/Weekend link it offers me BAR and AP rates. Which one do I select?
If I were to select the AP rate would they fail to honour my voucher?
Or would it be more helpful if i rang Ambassador line to book?
Just off to find the paracetamol .... Thanks in advance

Quick reply to just one part - the Amb Weekend rate is the one you want - neither the BAR or AP rates. I've recently had problems with the Ambweekend link from the published link - try this link below
http://www.ihg.com/hotels/us/en/rese...eference=IBAMB
...and ensure you select the AMBWeekend rate when you search (you might need to select "Ambassador Certificate" from the rate preference drop-down)
