Staybridge Suites Miami (Doral), Florida

Staybridge Suites Miami (Doral), Florida

What is your IHG Rewards Club status?
- Platinum Elite

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
- Very happy

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
- Booked: 1 Queen Bed Studio Suites (on points)
- Received: 1 King Bed, 1 Room Suite w/ balcony

How are the rooms?
- Completely remodeled (it was completed at the end of 2014). It looks more like a brand new hotel than just a remodel. All new everything from furniture to fixtures to stainless steel refrigerator, the entire kitchen...everything is new within the suite. And I do mean, everything.
- Lots and lots of electrical outlets.

What was your welcome gift?
- 500 points or ? I didn't ask what else they were offering after they said "or"...just took the points. This was on a Reward stay, also.

What was good and what was bad?
Good
- Friendly staff. Paul & Abby who checked my rooms in on different dates are just great! Asked for a new tv remote and maintenance was up in less than 5 minutes. Most of the staff is bilingual but some just speak Spanish (but not the front desk staff). Saw staff constantly cleaning. Hotel is in perfect shape.
- The hotel looks exactly like the pictures on the IHG website...actually, better...
- Platinum members appear to get upgraded since I had 3 suites on reward nights and all got upgraded.
- Very quiet. My suite was across from elevator. Unless I was near/next to the door, I never heard anyone in the hall. Never anyone above, below or besides me either.
- A/C is central. Keeps the suite very cool. I set it at 62 and woke up one morning to 65 in the suite (while it was humid and nearly 80 outside).
- TV Channels. Incredible array of tv channels from DirecTV with on-screen current programs. The channel listings guide in the suite is somewhat incomplete as there are more than 130 channels...more than they list.
The only IHG hotel I've ever been to with more channels is the HIX Dania Beach, FL.
- Breakfast & Evening Social. Although they have the typical, boring Staybridge Suites corporate breakfast buffet, it is keep very fresh, restocked and clean. Evening social does include wine and beer. They had a great carrot cake dessert at it, also.

Bad
- I'm going to have to nitpick just to mention anything bad. No DVD player, toilet flushes very slow, hallways can get a little warm. If you are looking to workout, the exercise room also contains the (free) laundry room (4 washers/4 dryers) and it gets quite humid and hot. Pool is shared with the co-owned adjacent (as in literally just separated by the pool) Holiday Inn. I never saw anyone in the pool. It gets a lot of shade since it is between two 9 story buildings. Once in a while, a plane goes over the hotel, it's close to MIA, but it's very rare (one late afternoon, 5 did within 2 hours but on 2 other days, none). That's about it.

Value for Money/Points? Would you return?
- Absolutely. This has instantly become one of my favorite IHG hotels. Next to the Staybridge Suites Las Vegas, this is now my second favorite Staybridge Suites.

What is your Priority Club status?

Platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, all OK but nothing more

Which room did you book ...
Standard (3 people) award, got King bed + sofabed

and which upgrade did you receive?
Rooms are all same size it seemed, 2 double beds or king bed with sofa.

How are the rooms?
Very small, otherwise standard HIX. Quite clean though, feeled like they are fairly new. Good choice of TV channels, kettle with coffee&tea. Our room was marked "IHG member room" but I did not find any difference.

How is the exec. lounge?
NA.

What was good and what was bad?
+ Personnel were nice and friendly.
+ Cheap but fairly decent for not being "too cheap"
+ Parking was open and free, despite webpage said it costs
- Far away from city, and actually fairly far away from soccer stadium, but there is a tram connection nearby to the stadium.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Good value for the low prices. Nothing special here, but decent HIX anyway. Would never pay over 100$ though.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
OKish, nothing more and nothing less. Indifferent feeling

Which room did you book ...
Standard (=superior?) double beds

and which upgrade did you receive?
The same I guess. I didn't really find differences in rooms, even though there are differences according to their booking engine, but one cannot really tell which one is better than the other

How are the rooms?
Fairly decent size for a HI, but not big either. No frills, standard. Shampoo dispenser in bathroom was empty.
We requested an extra bed for a 3rd person, which cost 30€

How is the exec. lounge?
There is none

What was good and what was bad?
+ OK room, clean, not so worn as some rooms look on their webpage
- no elite benefits, no positive surprises nothing if you expect some.
- small and not so safe parking area costs (we parked on the street nearby, but there is not much space you can find)
If you expect exactly what you imagine booking this, then it will be just that and no more.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
For the low prices they usually have, this is a good value to just overnight stay checking-in late and leaving in the morning. With any higher price than 70€ I would never book this.
Will never return if other DUS hotels are available.

HIE Den Haag (Den Hague), NL

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum (RA)

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Standard HIE offering stay was fine
(Seems to be exactly same rooms, and bathrooms as HIE Arnhem and only 2years old)

Which room did you book
Booked - Standard double
Received - Std Double on 4th Floor

How are the rooms?
o Standard size for a HIE, bathroom had shower only but was 50% bigger rectangular not usual square
o Plenty of power points and lighting
o Work bench and Chair, 32" TV, + no chair , had a square pouffe (no 2seater sofa here)

How is the exec. lounge?
There is none

What was good and what was bad?
Good
o Friendly helpful and polite staff. No problem with a 2pm Checkout request.
o All restaurants right outside the hotel
o Sightseeing Parliament and Palace located metres away
o Continental brekkie was fine, yoghurt, fruit, cereal, bread/toast, mini-croisants, rolls, cheese, cold meats, coffee, orange juice
o No evening food here , can order in, fetch own
(However no microwave exists here to heat any food one purchases)
o 300points or drink/snack on checkin
o Very convenient for both Den Haag CS station (1.5km, 12min walk) and shopping center (Direct train to/from Amsterdam Centraal Station)
o New (24months old) hotel so rooms in good condition
o More convenient to bars/shops/restaurants/train station than my usual Hilton Den Haag

Bad
o Nothing

Neutral
o TV channels (if from UK) just BBC1/2 (no ITV channels)
o Could really do with a chair or sofa

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Approaching 100euro/night. As an HH-D I will probably revert back to Hilton Den Haag who give me Exec (or Studio Suite) with Lounge Access for 20-45Euro more depending if BAR or Flex. I chose as location was good/better for me this visit.

HI Singapore Atrium

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes Very

Which room did you book
Booked - King
Received - King Club

How are the rooms?
o 2nd Stay here, previous was only gold, room was high floor, good view.
o Newly renovated upper rooms, everything was almost brand new, so thats a plus
o Good glass work desk, adequate lighting. Good curtains and overall ambience and decor.

How is the exec. lounge?
Small, spread was not very large but the satay was decent. Also had cheese and free flow hard liquor and sparkling white. Sunset view was actually quite nice.

What was good and what was bad?
Good
o Helpful and understanding staff
o Good value breakfast (included in rate)
o Recently renovated rooms, clean bathtup etc
o Good view
o Platinum recognised and upgraded without prompting
o Room service pizza
o Received 2x comp drinks @ bar
o 4pm Checkout given

Bad
o Was asked if we wanted anything to drink, we thought it was included in the dinner we paid for (since breakfast has orange juice) Later upon realising we paid for dinner in our rate and already delivering juice, they said we had to pay for it. Later rectified with staff during checkout. Why should i pay for a drink when i have lounge access ? Juice Was waived.
o Dinner beef/lamb was Inedible. Others were decent.
o 4pm checkout requested and approved day before but still got called on checkout day twice to ask why we didnt checkout. Maybe bad communication.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
$200sgd/night after taxes its quite cheap considering lounge, breakfast, dinner. Needed the stay for SYS.

Platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?

Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Booked standard double, received Executive

How are the rooms?

A decent size with sofa, chair and a large work desk.
Safe
Decent basic wifi which was usable.
Mini fridge with two bottles of water and a couple of kit kats.
Bathroom a little dated.

How is the exec. lounge?

None

What was good and what was bad?

Good

Plenty of parking, points or drink welcome gift, upgrade, very good breakfast, the hotel is two minutes from the M6 however the River Lune is behind the hotel and is great for a stroll.

This was my fifth visit and I have been upgraded every time except the first visit so they appear to look after returning guests.

Bad

A little dated and in need of a refurb. The hotel is an old Forte property that was refurbished when IHG bought the chain and little has been done since. Kew Green have recently bought the hotel and intend to refurb this year though.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

Yes - Ł62 for a Saturday night with breakfast booked a week in advance was pretty reasonable.
