Yes, Ambassador benefits only apply when staying at IC properties. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Bottom line - It is at the hotel's discretion how many nights are available.[/QUOTE]

I was able to reward book 2 nights at the IC cannes - at the end of the festival

Sun 22 May 2005 ORDER 1 IC CARLTON-CANNES points earned: - 30000
bonus points: - N/A
total points: - 30000
miles awarded: N/A

Sat 21 May 2005 ORDER 1 IC CARLTON-CANNES points earned: - 30000
bonus points: - N/A
total points: - 30000
miles awarded: N/A

i'm unsure if you could book the free rooms for 2006 Cannes Film Festival now
i was told by customer service that
1) there are no blackout dates
2) but the number of rooms available for reward nites are limited and vary by hotel
3) each hotel GM has the discretion to accept additional reward nights if they want

Have to keep this in mind if one of my films ever makes it into the Festival, though I am sure that I would have difficulty getting my RA suite upgrade.

I am sure that all a property has to do is have one room booked as an award to fulfill the "No Blackouts" commitment. As we have learned from the IC in Rome or Hong Kong, this does not mean you can get an award yourself, just that someone in the hotel is staying there on an award every night of the year. Though I must say, even if capacity controlled, getting rooms is a lot easier than getting a First Class award seat on SQ, CX, QF or NH on their prime routes...

I think jessej is now obliged to provide a full trip report, with movie/sounds etc., and starring various luminaries, such as this one am trying to flog for a pound, to increase my rating!

According to the little cards that are on the checkin desks at some ICs, the promotion for the 5000 PC Points certificate when buying Ambassador has been extended to 30 June 2005.

If you do not stay mostly at IC's but other Priority brands:
1-Is it worth to join Amb. Club?

2-What is most econical/ prudent way to join?

1)

i'd say depends upon your valuation

components of ambassador
1) upgrade to suite, welcome gift
no value if you dont use IC
unsure if you can register you and a friend into an IC
and tell them you are coming later and let them get the benefits and you take the 2k points

2) buy 1 get 1 free
no value to you
will have to trade it to get something of value
i see them on ebay for $15 to $35

3) 5000 pts bonus
you can proabbly use this
whats the value to you?
$50 if you purchase 5k points
so i'd say $50 max

4) 10% point bonus
value ? how many nights do you stay?
sum (rates paid) * .1 = additional points

5) if you check in to a HI or CP and they screw up
you may get the ambassador benefits

i did at a holiday inn, the first time
got a suite, fruit and cheese plate, free movie coupon
the 2nd time i stayed there - i got squat

for you
$150
- $30 - value of 3000 ff miles depending upon which link you join
- average $25 resale value of the 1 nite free cert
- $50 - max purchase price/value of 5000 points (assuming you use the points to stay at $300 a night or higher ICs, that value is much less if you use your points at a candlewood express or holiday inn express
- $20 per IC visit that you can co book with friends and family and have the points accrue to you
- value of 10% bonus

i'd say your net cost is
$150-$30-$50- ??
$70 - ??
if the total of the 10% bonus over a year is worth $70 then its breakeven

if thats 7000 points
means a total of 70k paid points
or $7000 in hotel bills

so plug in your own numbers

the other missing piece is the value of the priority club bonuses
i think its worth $70 in of themselves

since i joined
i have spent 4 nights in IC ( 2 paid , 2 free)
3 in HI
and 3 in CP
that plus bonus points and credit card spending has generated 90k in points

so for me its a no brainer
i renewed early for $100
got another 5k coupon and a free night coupon
as i plan on 8 IC nights between now and july
2 award, 3 paid, 3 free

I think it's worth it. You pay $150 for buy one night get one free. I booked a Junior Suite at IC in Manila for $129, throw in the tax and it's about $150 and I was upgraded to the next higher suite for an effective price of $75 a night. Can't beat that.

There is no Upgrade to Suite benefit as an Ambassador. That is only for Royal Ambassadors. The upgrade is a single-grade in one's room: standard to deluxe, deluxe to superior, etc.

1) If I mainly stay at HIs and Crown Plazas (and occasionally HI Express, when I have to ! ) is there any point me getting Ambassador ?

2) If I do, at what point is one likely to be made RA ?

Thanks all !
1. None

2. None

Ambassador is purely for IC's it comes with gold status but that can be bought for next to nothing and offers next to nothing, and with all the promos here gold is only a few stays and plat a few more.

You can get RA if you stay at 3 IC's a year and are platinum again benefits only for IC's.

Just take the points and make plat is my opinion
