What is currently the most optimal method? I have NOT signed up for any promotion or anything. Did not use any of the links. Never been Ambassador.

I just stayed in a huge IHG resort in SEA. It had around 400 rooms and was fully booked. Management created an event for status members and invited me as diamond. During the event which had 8 people attending, i learned that in this massive fully booked property there were 22 people that had SOME status in IHG, including just being a new member. And 3 diamonds, including me.

That definitely ruins everything for the guys that got it the hard way, yep.

You did not sign up for the instant diamond promotion or you mean you did it and didn't sign up for anything else after?

I stayed at IC hotel last week, hotel was fully booked that time, and I asked club manager how much diamond elite per day, she didn't disclose actual number but number was not significant (judging from total number of club guest)

Many instant diamond may already have top status at other brands, mostly won't focus in IHG because diamond has no automatic lounge loungeThey likely to keep this diamond as alternative, some maybe using it to experience IHG hotel and services before they decide whether to maintain it.

Exactly. Having an extra option when (and IF, in the first place) i have to stay at IGH is better than not having it, but i will never ever give up my bonvoy titanium lounge access at Westin or JW just to use diamond at IGH crowne plaza.

Can't blame people who hit the nights or points requirements for being annoyed, but, unfortunately, that's the game these days.

The above elite percentage seems very atypical. Only 5% of a sold-out hotel had IHG status? Maybe it was a huge tour group from some other country.

For years I have been monitoring the check in queue during weekend, most of the guest were actually booked via 3rd party. I have reason to believe tourist hotel has more 3rd party booking compare to business hotel (corp guest more likely to book via official channel, hence more elite member in business hotel)

In that case, you'll likely need to hit the nights or points minimums. Enrollment for Instant Diamond and the other challenges has closed and I'm not aware of any current status match offers.

So currently there is a link/offer where you enroll, then get Diamond after hitting 10 nights?

Sorry, I should clarify that the company I am internal to still has Straight to Diamond promo active. I just haven't registered for it. This being said, what is the most optimal way to do it?

Wait until end of Dec 2022, then enroll. Get Diamond Elite for 90 days, and then at the end of those 90 days enroll in Amb? Then this will give me Diamond + Amb to the end of Dec 2023?

Is there any way to keep Diamond to the end of Dec 2024?

Enroll in Straight to Diamond ASAP and then pay for Ambassador before Dec. 31 so you're guaranteed to be able to renew Ambassador in late 2023, which might, if the trick still works, extend Diamond through 2024.

Right now, Ambassador can be renewed up to 90 days before expiration, but if you buy Amb in Q1 2023 and the 90-day rule changes, your Diamond would expire before you could renew.
