What is your Priority Club status?
Spire Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
No

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked lowest category double bed. Received lowest category twin bed.

How are the rooms?
New and fresh but cramped. The TV did not work properly.

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?
The good: The hotel has a new and fresh feeling about it. The location is also very good and very central.

The bad: No upgrade given. In fact I didn't even receive the room I booked. Sleep quality very low. Housekeeping is a mess. Some of the guests are very dodgy. And the hotel seems to be running a refugee/homeless shelter in some of its floors. The breakfast was very limited, not even worth the Ł20 paid. I also got stuck in the lifts twice and then had to climb the stars a few times.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Poor value. I would not return.

What is your Priority Club status?

Spire Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?

Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

King With Sofa Bed and was given the same. Technically, it could have been an upgrade to a King Executive as our room was on the 10th (top) floor, but there isn't an Executive Lounge on the property, nor did I see any signage on the floor advertising it as such.

How are the rooms?

Somewhat tired decor. Average-sized room and bathroom with decent water pressure and hot water quickly available. Having a mini-fridge in the room was welcome.

How is the exec. lounge?

N/A

What was good and what was bad?

Good -Very close to PHX airport. While the property can be accessed by the PHX Sky Train, we decided to use the free shuttle. I called the property to let them know we had arrived at Terminal 3 and a shuttle was dispatched to pick us up; I'd estimate that we waited about 10 minutes. We rode directly back to the hotel without making any stops (sharing the ride with us were the flight attendants from our inbound flight). I took the shuttle back the next morning to the terminals before transferring to the bus to the Rental Car Center. The Sky Train extension to the rental cars should be opened in a few months. Overall, staff were very friendly.

Bad - Soundproofing in room wasn't that good. We could hear the voices of the people in the room next to us coming through the connecting door. Also, our room faced directly east and the northern Runway 8/26. The departures in the morning were to the east so there was a lot of jet noise.

The restaurant is open; I went down for breakfast. There was a huge group of high-school aged hockey players and their families staying at the hotel and they overwhelmed the restaurant seats and the buffet; the restaurant wasn't prepared for the large number of people eating at once.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

The rate was a bit pricey given that it was a busy holiday weekend. Once the Sky Train opens to the Rental Car Center, I would certainly give this property a longer look, Otherwise, I'll probably look to stay elsewhere.

What is your Priority Club status?

Platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Very much so.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Base room on points and upgraded to Castle View Double.
However the 'back' view is of a National Treasure garden and teahouse and even the 'worse' view rooms are of a car park that is really nice as car-parks go.

How are the rooms?
Very high spec. Far nicer build quality than I've experienced at any of the Indigos I've stayed at in Europe.

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?
It's very new and there are all kinds of good things from that but conversely the service is also new and it may take some time for the service levels to match the hardware. Not that it was bad but there were a number of moments where the mismatch came through.
Breakfast for the Japanese option was very comprehensive, the waiter staff warned us that it would be, but even then it was lot of food!
Nice balcony with sofa though it was a little cool to take advantage of. Beautifully designed and maintained (so far) surroundings for the hotel.
Short pleasant walk up the hill to the famed castle the hotel takes part of its name from.
Entrance to the adjacent National Treasure teahouse and gardens is free for hotel guests (1,200yen) green-tea service in the teahouse is another 600 yen.
Great cocktails and banter from the Italian patron at the bar.
Great room service burger.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Very much so, prices are pitching around 30,000 to 40,000 yen which is realistic for what you get.

Two stays with in one week, booked both One Double Bed Standard Room, received Two Single beds Premium Room High Floor on 1st stay, Renewal One King bed Premium Room High Floor on 2nd stay.

How are the rooms?
Now this hotel is under the renovation work until the end of April 2022. Indeed, non-renovated rooms are dated, but functional. Average room size is around 25 sqm, but not too cramped.

Video of Renewal One King bed Premium Room:

This hotel does not have exec. lounge.

What was your welcome gift?
None.

What was good?
+++++ Renewal Rooms
+++++ Just 6 minutes walk from JR Sendai Shinkansen Station
+++++ Restaurant is provided good products with good price

What was bad?
Bad
- - - - - No view
- - - - - TV is a little bit small considered to the recent trend.
- - - - - Location is close to Sendai station, but the residential district, not business and sight seeing district. Nothing vibrant around there. Need to go to Sendai station if you any need. (Of course, still best for bed and breakfast.)

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked King Standard Room, Received Three Single Beds Standard Room City View High Floor.

This hotel has only 4 room categories, Queen Bed Standard, King Bed Standard, Two Single Beds Standard, and Three Single Beds Standard. Most of them are around 18sqm. Three Single Beds Standard Room is 36sqm.

How are the rooms?
This hotel is just reflagged from Japanese local hotel chain. Former hotel opened in May 2019, however due to COVID, hotel has been closed just 10 months. Therefore everything looks new. However, this hotel will have massive renovation to suits Holiday Inn Express brand standard from April to October 2022.

So, this room design is temporary one.
