IC Presidente Cancun Resort
IC Presidente Cancun Resort
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked King InterContinental Signature Balcony, received King Club Ocean View Balcony 9n Club Floor
How are the rooms?
Great oceanfront views and balcony. Room amenities are back to pre COVID, everything you needed was there including aloe!
How is the exec. lounge?
The lounge was open this time. Breakfast now has made to order eggs but the buffet is served to you by the chef. They never get the quantities right and some days there wasn't a sign to let you know what was there. Had to ask for toast, sometimes they would forget. Not sure why they can't give plastic gloves and let you serve yourself.
Cocktail hour was great but sometimes service was slow. No self serve like pre COVID. Snacks are pre plated but better than when we were there in January.
Did you receive a welcome gift?
Fruit and a glass bottle of mineral water. But the hotels provided a lot of bottled water every day.
How was the minibar?
The minibar was empty but the front desk sent up room service attendants to fill it on request. Still basic -4 beers, 2 JDs, 2 rums, Perrier, sodas.
I went across the street and bought wine for less than $10.
What was good and what was bad?
-Good
-- The beach is one of the best in Cancun
-- Hotel room views
-- Bartenders at the outdoor bar were fantasticday
-- It wasn't crowded at all and we felt extremely safe the entire time-- covid test back to US was booked/done on site and was free. Results were emailed a few hours later
-Bad
-- No self serve in the lounge for Breakfast or cocktails
Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Yes, the room rate was great and it included $50 per day for food/beverages. We had a lot of Cheladas on the beach every day!
Would you return?
Yes! Can't wait

Six Senses Ibiza
What is your IHG Rewards Club status?
Spire Inner Circle Royal Ambassador
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay ?
Yes, very much so.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest rate, and received a Sea View Premium Junior Suite.
How are the rooms?
Simply superb.
Around 60sqm.
Comfortable bed.
Seating area with sofa
Desk.
Nice bathroom with bathtub,
Separate walk-in shower and toilets. 2 sinks.
Flatscreen television with massive selection of international channels. Connectable television.
Nespresso expresso machine, kettle
Very elegant and warm conteporary design
Very quiet.
Lots of usb and power sockets next to the bed and desk.
PressReader free access.
Superb leafy 80 sqm terrace with panoramic view over the sea.
What Signature Amenity did you receive?
50 minute Six Senses Spa massage (the spa is superb and staff really great)
What was good and what was bad?
Good
- Superb property for sea view, quiet atmosphere, architecture , design and gardens.
- Love the Sea View Premium Junior Suite
- Very attentive and proactive service (including through the app). Bell boy taking care of the rent-a-car in a breeze.
- Breakfast and dining were really delicious (Mediterranean influence, served in a friendly atmosphere, large choice of high quality products for breakfast).
- The resort is designed in such a way that it feels like you are in a chic and charming village
- The hotel is large, has multiple spaces (restaurants, experience room, fitness room), so you can stay for several days without feeling like you're staying in the same place.
- Great and large infinity pool. Private beach.
- Great concert on Friday evening.
- Although the hotel was full, we never felt like we were in a crowded hotel or experience a degradation in service. We were impressed to receive our à la carte eggs very quickly despite the restaurant was full.
- Delicious ice-creams in the restaurant
- The hotel offers an activity program (yoga, walks). But I must confess that we tested none
Bad
- Nothing
Value for $ or IHG Rewards Points? Would you return?
Absolutely.
The hotel is indeed not cheap for a 2 night week-end stay (EUR 590 per night, dinner at EUR 160 for two with 2 plates and cocktails), but definitely worth it.
The resort is a great success: the hotel was full.
We met the GM who introduced himself at one of the bars.
He told us that the property should close during the low season, but the hotel is so successful that it will remain open until January.
We had read some reviews that the hotel had service issues.
The truth is that the service is generally excellent (smiling, attentive and proactive on the part of all the staff.
However, the check-in process is long and some of the restaurant's servers are sometimes a little lost).
In-house bicycles would be a plus for visiting the area.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Quite happy . However the communication from the reservation department was quite challenging (no names of the sender provided/delayed replies). As the hotel was not ready early Oct I was walked away to another hotel on quite a short notice. At my second attempt end of Oct hotel was operational (but not fully yet) - Room upgrade was not good.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
I booked Classic room and received the classic room with the sofa bed (guaranteed)
Room upgrade was not great. I was told that I received the guaranteed sofa bed (for my kids) in the Classic room and that they have only a few rooms with sofa bed.
My room was on the lowest floor. I was told renovation work for the suites were not completed yet. Higher floor rooms with king bed and sofa(bed) were also not available. Also no roll-away beds available at the hotel which I find a bit strange
Classic room had a quite good size. I doubt you'll find such a big size at that category at other hotels in barcelona.
How are the rooms?
The room was ok- all the Classic Premium and Club rooms are similar (besides corner rooms) - the only difference I was told is that the club rooms are on the higher floors followed by the Premium and the Classic on the lowest floor. The hotel rooms are only up to the 6th floors
How is the exec. lounge?
Exec lounge is on the attrium level (between ground and 2nd)- was not opened. I was told due to renovation works. I personally had the feeling that they did not want to open the lounge just for a few Club guests.
The Club InterContinental experience was be provided in the Boira Coffee Lounge on the ground floor which was quite good. You could pick from a 'menue' which was quite good. Drinks were also provided (inclusive of Champagne) during the day.
Did you receive a welcome gift?
Yes, 2 bottle of water (Vichy Catalan and Font D'or) and some good chocolate and caramelized nuts
How was the minibar?
The minibar had some nice snacks, basics soft drinks, 1 beer and red/white wine. No sparkling wine/Cava unfortunately. There were also some good range of liquors
The minibar was not refilled on the next day. I would had to phone the housekeeping but I didn't mind so I left it as it was.
What was good and what was bad?
-Good
Staff is really great - they going the extra mile.
Nice roof top bar/restaurant - great food and good drinks
Best cocktails I had since months
-Bad

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Booked cheapest advance rate with a bit below 300€ not that cheap

Early last year I had a booking in Berlin which would normally have given me a Club senior suite, I asked for an extra bed and was informed that they were no longer allowed in the big suites . I wonder if this is now being rolled out over other hotels?
In my case I paid for a club superior extra and for Park suite with adjoining deluxe room , so was more than happy ( I’d have had to pay club supplement in any case)

Yes, very much so.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest advance rate, and received a King Premium room on last floor, with city view.
I also received a EUR37 credit as "higher categories are not available" (which is more than generous as the Premium room is basically a Club room)
How are the rooms?
Around 45sqm
Superbly renovated in a luxury yacht style
Seating area and desk.
Large smart TV with good selection of international channels.
Nespresso machine. Kettle.
Large comfortable bed.
Large flat screen television with large selection of international channels.
Bathroom with bathtub, separate toilets and walk-in shower. Very nice Byredo "Bal d'Afrique" amenities
Very quiet. Very efficient air conditioning system.
View over the city,
How is the exec. lounge?
The club lounge is not open yet.
Very good breakfast served at the main restaurant on main floor.
Afternoon tea and evening snacks/drinks served in the lobby area (I did not experience both of them).
What was good and what was bad?
Good
Very friendly and professional staff, smiling and attentive service.
Super renovation (it is hard to recognize anything from former Crowne Plaza
Superb spa with indoor pool (unfortunately at a cost: EUR 40 for 45 minutes).
Very pleasant top floor outdoor pool with terrace
Bad
Nothing

What is your IHG Rewards Club status?
Spire RA
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes!
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Mayfair Grand, first got 2-cat upgrade as usual, but ended up with Mayfair Grand Suite because the hotel was fully booked.
How are the rooms?
Spacious, Nicely renovated, Nice view
How is the exec. lounge?
Great like before! They opened the lounge about three weeks ago. Operate 1pm to 9pm. Breakfast offered in Restaurant.
Did you receive a welcome gift?
Cookies, but had to ask.
How was the minibar?
None. But you can use your minibar credit for F&B.
What was good and what was bad?
-Good
Room, Lounge, Breakfast, Service, Location. Almost everything.
-Bad
Ordered room service, and it was horrible AND sky high price. Theo Randall restaurant is great, so do not waste your money with room service.
Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
It is pricey hotel, but definitely worth it. Since the club access itself is GBP 200, it is great deal for RA.
Would you return?
Absolutely.

No disrespect intended with the following feedback, but as someone who himself writes and enjoys extensive/detailed hotel reviews, the amount of photos in these posts is downright excessive; it takes forever to load these threads and they get wildly long. I'm all for a series of photos to illustrate key points and the overall experience, but 40+ photos is a bit of a visual onslaught.
Mods, can we have some rules around post length?

The cause could also be the very old design of this site... Off topic discussion that is.

Well, with all rules there are pro and cons.
And I am not so much into a general rule. For the simple reason, that a report of an InterContinental, Regent, Kimpton or Indigo with a number of amenities and facilities will need more pictures than an Holiday Inn Express with no facilities at all on a motorway in a rural part of a country. As for now, I simply ask to try not to poste the same picture twice. Different point of view and offerings at different times are okay. I trust that you follow this approach.
In a review thread, this might be different than in other threads (eg. the new hotels threads). We have posted a different rule there and asked to limit the number of pictures.
We will review this approach from time to time.
And now back to the main topic please

Sorry to weight in here. This thread is for RA experience. These pictures are really not RA specific and more general. I beliebe it would be better to have them in the master thread of the hotel. This thread is taking far too long to load now with a slower connection and also the information jumps down and is impossible to read when the pictures load slow.
