Applet Wallet Functionality Removed
 

Reluctantly opening a new IHG account after they closed mine unilaterally owing to their security breach last year (random-generated password, FWIW. Deep breath.)

Anyway have a stay coming up and so downloaded the app but I cannot see to find a way to add it to Apple Wallet. I can see the card alright, but the add to wallet link is not there. I have searched on the forum: has this been removed? If so why would they do that?

I've just run into this problem. I replaced my old phone after it killed itself, and with my fresh start on my new one, I downloaded all my old apps. With IHG, after logging in, there's no option anywhere for adding the card to Apple Wallet despite my having had it for years on my iPhone XS. I've tried exchanging emails, calls and tweets with IHG and they give the same instructions despite seeing screenshots sent to them showing there is no "Add to Wallet" option.

Anyone else experiencing this or know a workaround? Thanks.

After reading the above posts, I decided it was time to add my IHG card to Apple Wallet. I woke the iPhone, went to the Wallet app, pressed the plus sign (+) near the top right of the screen, and followed the prompts. The iPhone read my name, the card number, and the expiration date off the card; I needed to enter the three digit security code and accept the terms. My only confusion was trying to verify which card was the default card; as far as I could tell, the only place to get that information is from Settings > Wallet. I could not find it in the Wallet app itself.

After experiencing this issue earlier and raising it with IHG Customer Care and in several online forums, it seems that IHG has made the conscious decision to remove Apple Wallet functionality in its entirety. I was hoping that with their rebrand and new image, they'd launch a new app to re-introduce Wallet functionality and rollout keyless/mobile entry to bring them into the present/in line with the new contactless COVID reality, but... it's IHG. All we got was the old app with a new logo on it with plenty of appearances of the old logo, mentions of "IHG Rewards Club" and the same old nonsense [i.e. no landscape mode on tablet] in the same lazy early 2000s design.

I'm hoping they're working on a totally new app integrating all these expected functionalities, but I think it's best not to hold our breaths.

What feature has been removed? From the context of the thread, it sounds like you're talking about adding an IHG card to Wallet in iOS. As noted above, I had no problem doing so, and the card is still listed there.

If you are talking about adding a credit card to Wallet from a non-Wallet app and that's important to you, sorry I can't help. But if you simply want to add an IHG credit card to Wallet, have you tried adding it to Wallet in the Wallet app?

I am talking about IHG loyalty card, this option is definitely not in latest iOS builds.

I am just curious why they removed this functionality, isn't that one one of the feature of future?! IDK probably I am wrong but have a proper digital card in Apple wallet is what I would expect in 2021. Pretty weird TBH.

My card is still there and shows current points balance and status so it is updating

that's OK but if you're new you can't add card now.

I'm curious - what is the benefit of having that card in your wallet app? I have been a member since 2002 or maybe 2003, and have never been asked for or needed to show my card for any reason. Am I missing out on some benefit?

Ok on the app I have a choice of three cards , Sire, Inner Circle and RA . In my wallet it only allows RA
I still carry an expired plastic card that I hand over in hotels as id, much easier as I need a credit card anyway lol

I just saw on the IHG website that you can download your card to Apple wallet, so I guess you need to get website on your phone, go to member materials and it is under your displayed card

can you attach a screenshot? I followed your steps but no button displayed either on IHG website in chrome or Firefox (desktop or iPhone website)
