Against my general judgement (cash is far far better than any hotel points) I bought some 100% extra free IHG points yesterday to use immediately on an Intercontinental points stay that seemed reasonably good value (35,000 points per night, so effectively $175 for a room currently showing at an advance purchase price of $240).
I got the 'thank you' confirmation and my card transaction is there .... but does anyone know how long do I have to wait for the points to land? I'm not that worried about the room rate going as it's not that great a bargain, it's just that I want to finish the booking.

IHG 100% bonus points promo - how long to post?
Hi everyone, I bought 250k points + 250k bonus points yesterday; today 250k have posted to my account. Is it normal for the bonus 250k to post separately or should I be concerned and call IHG to enquire?

I am curious about posting times. I bought points 3 days ago, I have yet to see any posting of points to my account. Is it frequent for points to delay or am I just being unlucky, also how quick is customer service to fix these things when you reach out to them?

On this subforum, there is a large thread on bonus-point packages. With those, you're clearly buying points and they elite-qualifying in most circumstances (there are a few exceptions, mostly for very large bonus-point packages as detailed in the dedicated thread).

As usual, IHG is running a promotion around Thanksgiving. It's the 100% bonus on purchased points we've seen numerous times in the past.
You must buy at least 26,000 points (before bonus) to get the best value. Price is $0.005 per point then, as before. Flash sale ends Nov 27.
Personal remark: Despite covid-19, my IHG points balance is shockingly low. I guess it's due to the attractive variable award pricing. I can't believe I'm writing this but I'm buying at least a few points speculatively...

Considering how revenue rates have collapsed it's pretty hard to make this one work in your favor. At least IHG offers dynamic pricing unlike Hyatt/Marriott.

Kind of unprofessional of points.com to sell 23k/24k/25k points (before bonus) for more money than 26k points.
IMO, this promo makes no sense unless you buy at least 26k before bonus. Failing that, I'd look at other options including the P+C trick.
