A new season and a new IHG Accelerate promotion. Answers to some Frequently Asked Questions below:

For newcomers to IHG promotions, note that Holiday Inn Express and Holiday Inn (including Holiday Inn Resorts) are two different brand categories for these things. If your dashboard says 'stay at a Holiday Inn Express' as one of the tasks and you stay at a Holiday Inn, it will NOT credit for the Holiday Inn Express task. (and vice versa)

For a task that says 'Stay X number of times at a Holiday Inn Express' (or Holiday Inn, Intercontinental, etc.) each stay must be at a different property for it to fully credit rather than staying at the same property multiple times.

An award stay only counts toward a task that specifically requires an award stay and will not count toward other tasks and night requirements for the purposes of the promotion. (Award stays do count toward general elite qualification, but that's outside this promotion)

'Redeem points' award nights only count for the 'redeem points' task and no other tasks. (example- an award night does not count toward 'Stay X number of nights')

At IHG, points + cash stays are simply points stays where you bought some of the points at the time of the reservation. Once you finish the reservation, a points + cash stay shows as a points stay. Thus points + cash stays only count for tasks where they are specified, and not other tasks.

Other than the tasks for redeeming points and point + cash reservations, tasks are generally very stackable. Enjoy the game of figuring out how to get the most out of the least amount of nights and money.

Doing a points + cash booking and then cancelling it does NOT trigger a 'buy points' task completion. A 'buy points' task is a points transaction that is processed through points.com

The 'pay with your IHG credit card' task has typically been very slow to post. If it does within about two weeks of completing a stay, that's relatively quick, and it will often be several weeks beyond that, depending on when your statement closing date is and how IHG's system sweep is timed.

Some offers require booking within the promotion period in addition to staying during the promotion period.

I read the terms and conditions, but couldn't quite sort out the combination of Points & Cash (4,500 pts) plus Discover Our Brands (5 for 28,800 pts).

I have a week+ trip coming up where I'd typically stay just the whole time at a Crowne Plaza, but I could also get my four remaining brands in four nights as I have all the options within a mile or two. BUT will a stay count for both Points & Cash plus Discover Our Brands? If so then I might just pay attention to this promo versus ignoring it as it is a hassle to move hotels nightly.

No - Points+Cash has always counted toward fulfilling a promotion component of that type specifically only, and absolutely nothing else. The rest pretty much all need paid stays.

In my IHG app messages box I have a message telling me that I can earn double bonus points on top of Accelerate starting with my second stay.

It says Register to earn but there is not button for me to click to register.

I am already registered for Accelerate and Double Bonus points are not listed as one of my 4 requirements.

On the surface it appears that it doubles the points for all stays going forward (after next one) from registering for the offer, which has no registration link available.

Or, does it double the Accelerate components?

i believe it is just double standard points. But there is no link to register for it.

I have this same offer in the messages section within the app. No way to register via the app.

I ended up finding the same offer in my email and registered through the email link. I have the same question as others, does this double all standard stay points or just double any completed accelerate bonus offers.

Thanks, that's annoying. I might just skip some mattress runs then.

if 2 of my targets are:
- 2 bookings with points package
- 2 weekends stays (fri+sat or sat+sun)
can i make, all for the same hotel
- 1 night with points package Thu night
- 1 night Fri (cheapest rate)
- 1 night with points package Sat night
to fulfill the first task and half of the 2nd?
or would they count it as only 1 booking w/ points package (the weekend stay shouldn't be a problem as it fits IHG's definition of a stay)

The Bonus Points Package requirements are quite irksome. It used to be that the rates would often appear within the "best available" search results for a few extra euros. Now you have to search from the special page on the IHG website and the rates are typically 30-40 euros higher even for 1,000 points.

If it posts as a single stay, I'd think that's also a single "booking"? I'd expect that to fail as I don't think the Accelerate counter is able to parse out two subsets from the whole.
