IHG Brand and Award Night Distribution
LoyaltyLobby offers some statistics about IHG hotels which I found interesting. Perhaps others may too. I had vaguely suspected that things were like this, but it is good to see it properly researched.
“Holiday Inn Express and Holiday Inn brands alone have more than 4,000 of IHG’s 5,700 hotels ... InterContinental Hotels Group namesake only has 211 hotels open.” [HIX 2817 hotels, HI 1214.]
“75% of hotels require 10,000 to 25,000 points per night.”
“IHG’s footprint is very thin on the higher end. The majority of the properties are select service with some Holiday Inns and Crowne Plaza thrown in.”

On top of that they seem to actively chase away their most frequent guests in that segment.
Or how does @Luxuryloyalty see this?
