A tradition of Kimpton is to have secret social passwords periodically during the year (note - this means there are periods when there isn't a password). Any guest mentioning the password at check-in will be given an amenity at the discretion of the hotel. This thread lists the current password and what members received.

Stay Cool [27 May - 5 September 2022]

Official postings will come from http://www.facebook.com/Kimpton or Kimpton's Twitter account.
The thread documenting what was offered in previous years may be found here - https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/othe...rd-thread.html

Q. What happens if a property isn't aware of the secret password promotion?
A. If you have a mobile device, go to Kimpton's Facebook or Instagram feed, find their post announcing the secret password, and show it to the uninformed staff member. If needed, escalate to a supervisor. After the fact, send a note to IHG Customer Care or post a message via social media to Kimpton's attention.

Q. Is the promotion limited to IHG Rewards/IC Ambassador members only?
A. No, the promotion is open to any guest with a reservation at the hotel.

Q. Is the promotion good for award stays or is it only for paid stays?
A. The promotion is good for any stay, paid or award.

Q. What if I forget to mention the password when I check in?
A. You can always try and mention it at the front desk later during your stay and see if they will honor it. YMMV.

Stayed at the Hotel Palomar Phoenix this weekend. The property is showing it's age with tattered furniture and stained carpet in the rooms.

The Stay Cool secret password gift was less than impressive.
  • Kimpton branded flask
  • Two Kimpton can koozies
  • Two hydration multipliers
  • Two suckers
Maybe five bucks worth of stuff. Kind of an insult for $400+/night Suite stay.

Um, the flask alone is more than $5. Also, it's the same gift for everyone, so maybe you should have booked a cheaper room for greater value appreciation.

Kimpton Palomar - San Diego

They were very happy to get a chance to pull out the wheel of prizes as they said very few people seemed to know about the promo. I won a bottle of wine; quite happy with my prize though they did say I could spin again if I didnít like the first option

Kimpton Vero Beach: pick from magnets on a board. Pink something (maybe a flip flop) was a small plastic beach bucket with 2 non-alchohlic drinks and 2 snacks. I thought that meant from a server while on the beach but it was actually from the small wall of items for purchase next to the front desk.

The front desk agent brought out a bucket of "stuff" and said to pick an item which included Kimpton koozies, screen cleaning clothes, flip flop bottle openers. Pretty lame!

Hotel Palomar Philadelphia

The hotel presented us with a small curio box with nine drawers, each containing an offer. The drawer we selected had a $10 food and beverage credit which we used for a snack from the mini-bar.

Hotel 9 zero had an envelope draw. My first draw was a bottle of wine. Which I don’t drink. The clerk must I’d sense my disappointment and told me to draw again. The second was free parking but I didn’t a car. She then ask if there was anything I wanted out of the bodega. I asked what type of craft brews they had. She ended up grabbing me a cold one and 6 pack to put in my room fridge. She added 2 bottles of sprinkling water to boot. Can’t complain.

The UK properties either pretend to be, or are indifferent to the secret password to the point where I simply save myself the embarrassment by not mentioning it. Equally, theyíre not big on upgrades and pretend not to understand the programme.
That said, they clearly have no idea how the AMB night works as my friend has used his twice now and it still sits on his accounts available to use again.
