Just a heads up that the refurb will be completed by the end of the year and it will be a CP by January 1st.
They have confirmed they will have a club lounge.
Also it's still 35k in points at the moment and the hotel confirmed to me earlier that any bookings made now will be fine.
I'll be astonished if it doesn't quickly go to 45k or even 50k like CP City once its rebranded so if you are looking for a London CP at a bargain points rate now may be the time to book.

It is a very different location to CP City though. No matter how much refurbishment is done they cannot overcome that. I just don't see how rates for either cash or points could reach those at CP City given the vastly superior location of Blackfriars. It will be interesting to see how this plays out though.
I cannot see it being left at 35k long term. Battersea is 40k and near to very little and has poor transport links in comparison to KX-Bloomsbury which is zone one and in walking distance to Kings Cross and Russell Sq and that was why I said I would be very surprised if it didn't go to at least 45k.

Been keeping an eye on this too - it's certainly been a bit of a building site the past few months with the lobby etc being refurbished, but it's looking like it's paying off.
I'll be curious to see what happens to our corporate rate come the new year...

Stayed there last night. As usual got upgraded to an Executive Room (I'm a Spire Elite Ambassador) but was surprised that didn't come with lounge access.
The new lounge looks very nice but is apparently only for people who book a rate above Executive Room level - which no-one seems to have been able to do before last week. I was offered access for 55 which I didn't take up. Checked on their own website (the Club Room doesn't come up on my corporate site at all) and it was only about 15 a more a night.
Clearly the offering isn't appealing to many folk as both times I went past it last night (you can see it easily from reception) it was totally empty. Not a single person in it.
You'd think they would allow Exec rooms access (at least to Spire Elites) - even only to start off with. I'll keep it under review but have already swapped one booking I had for next week from them to a Hilton where I'm guaranteed access as a Diamond.
(Yes, I know that guaranteed lounge access isn't an IHG thing, but I've always been given it when upgraded to Executive Rooms in Crowne Plazas, including London City and Heathrow).

There were no club rooms loaded when I looked yesterday but they appear to be there now, looks like they have only loaded them in the last 24hrs.
The difference between exec and club is 20 so 55 is a bit excessive imo.

Standard redemption as platinum member, was thanked for being a member but not offered anything in terms of welcome amenity. I was given a "room with a view" which I guess might have been an upgrade (although the word upgrade wasn't used) as it was on the 7th floor (facing the Royal Mail facility and the City). No club lounge access. Infact, every time I walked through the lobby, the club lounge didn't even have any lights on. Maybe it was just that no one was in there and the lights auto-turn off (or no one had booked a club room) but it seemed somewhat unwelcoming.. Breakfast in restaurant was offered at 17.50 per person!

The top two floors are Executive Rooms so presumably a Club Room will just be one of those with club access.
Lounge was lit up this morning but no-one in it.
As a Spire Elite I was given 600 points as a welcome gift - could have had a drink instead.

I do have a question. I use a CPAP at night and need to know if there is an electrical outlet next to the bed? My Dreamstation is dual voltage; thank God. Just like iPhone chargers and laptop chargers. It's a small unit as I'll leave the humidifier chamber at home.

Yes, there are standard UK sockets next to the beds (at least in the room I'm in right now)
