It may be a cheap way to book a room. But the cost is out of date. At 10,000 points, you are buying them at $.007 a point. So the measure is $105.00 for a 15,000 point hotel, $175 for a 25,000 point hotel, and so on. Remember a few other things. On the plus side, A free night is a free night. There should be no additional sales taxes. So in Canada, you avoid the 13% HST. On the minus side, You get no points. Right now, with the huge bonuses, the unearned points you would not harvest will likely make up for paying for the stay. Finally, always keep a balance of 5,000 points in your account so you can take advantage of this "deal". It's not a "trick", as some may suggest. IGH would not allow this "trick" to exist if it was not profitable. Look for price anomalies, particularly in popular destinations and exchange rates. It may work to your advantage. |
Now award stays also counted as qualifying stays, so even though you don't get points but you'll still be able to get elite qualifying stays.

I read it as a)non qualifying night BUT b)Your yearly nights stayed count includes the award night . Helpful to those who can then qualify as Platinum for next year on nights due to NN nights count boost from their award stays. |
