Please post your Priority Club Elite experiences (Archive Thread 2011)

I thought it might be useful to have a thread similar to the excellent Royal Ambassador experiences thread, but focusing on the Priority Club Elite experiences:

- What is your Priority Club status?
- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
- How are the rooms?
- How is the exec. lounge?
- What was good and what was bad?
- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

If you are an Gold or Platinum Ambassador, there is a dedicated thread for Ambassador Experiences.

Crowne Plaza Melbourne

- What is your Priority Club status?
RA Platinum

- Were you happy with the hotel?
Yes

- Which room did you book and which room did you receive?
Booked cheapest rate and received a high floor river view

- How are the rooms?
Not huge (27 sqm) but very lighty and with a great view
Recently renovated in a sleek corporate design
Flat screen tv with pretty good selcetion of national television channels
Free bottle of wine as welcome gift
No free internet (but a 30 minutes coupon offered)

- How is the exec. lounge?N/A
N/A

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:
Very friendly staff
Instant check-in
Great view
Lots of nice restaurants in the area. It is a pity that the hotel has not a terrace on the harbour for its restaurant
Very quiet
Small but pleasant outdoor pool (surprisingly not advertised on Internet)

Bad:
No free Internet
No club lounge

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Yes
The hotel offers what I lack the most at IC The Rialto: a view and light!
Location is convenient for visiting (tram just next the hotel, Bike share station very close).

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum

Were you happy with your stay?
Sure

Which room did you book and which room did you receive?
Booked: 2 DOUBLE BEDS NONSMOKING

Received: 2 DOUBLE BEDS WITH BAY VIEW NONSMOKING

How are the rooms?
They are nice- clean and comfortable. We basically were there to sleep before going to the airport in the morning so didn't experience much. The shower was good, lots of pressure & hot water.

What was good, what was bad?
Good: It's a fine hotel. The complimentary airport shuttle was prompt and easy to schedule for the time we needed.

Bad: Long wait to check in; did not have me pre-checked in like usual as a plat.

Value for money?
Okay.

Will you return?
Maybe. It was fine, everything was okay, but nothing was great either. Kind of pricey for what we needed it for so would look into other options unless motivated by a good Priority Club promo!

- What is your Priority Club status?
RA Platinum

- Were you happy with the hotel?
Was ok.

- Which room did you book and which room did you receive?
Booked cheapest rate, got club with club access

- How are the rooms?
As previously reported, on the small side, particularily the bathroom.
Nicely refurbished

- How is the exec. lounge?
There's significantly less on offer than on my last stay (6-8 months ago). No more coffee maker, but just an espresso machine. Just a few soft drinks during the day.
Happy hour: No more cider, couple of different beers like Corona and Budweiser.
The wines were 'imbuvable'. Small hors d'oevres that weren't replenished.
Club lounge staff was great.

- What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Upgrade
Staff
Location
Price

Bad:
Less offerings in the club
Breakfast was very disappointing. No bread - toast only, and a very small variety of other food. I've seen better spreads at HIXs. Maybe this was because the hotel was basically emtpy.

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Yes - there aren't any much better options at MAN airport - although I was a bit disappointed with this stay. Value is great - rate was below 50 Pounds.

Indigo Nashville, TN (Union St)

- What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum

- Were you happy with the hotel?
Yes

- Which room did you book and which room did you receive?
Booked first night corporate rate, second night on points (special event going on). Both were booked as executive rooms -- received corner view King room on 13th floor (was very happy with this)

- How are the rooms?
Pretty neat, this was an old bank building so offices were converted into rooms. I found it to be very interesting! Large bathrooms/showers. This just opened in 2010 so the rooms were in great shape.

- How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:
Check-in was quick
Great view
Very convenient to everything downtown Nashville
Only 7 rooms per floor in our tower!

Bad:
No pool/hot tub
Road noise which I guess to be expected but I was surprised it traveled 13 floors.
Parking fees of $22 a day is crazy

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Great value, will be staying here again when visiting Nashville.

upgrade in beijing

We stayed at a Crown plaza in Beijing and used our points. It was a Point Break for 5000 points a night. They upgraded us to a Club Room and gave us coupons for free drinks. The food at breakfast was superb with a chef cooking our breakfast to order. We kept thinking we are paying nothing and they are giving us so much. The hotel was superb and in a perfect location on Wangfujing Avenue. The room was exceptional and had a welcoming fruit basket. We had more English stations than we had in Australia. It had been our stop before. We had stayed near Brisbane at a hotel again on Point Breaks. They didn't upgrade us even though we questioned them. They said we had a pool view and based on availablity that was all they could give us. The place was empty as it was a Sunday and everyone had gone home.
We stayed at a Crown Plaza in Rome which we paid for. The only break we got there was free internet for which they normally charged. We had platinum status for all the stays.

HI Munich City Center Centre

HI Munich City Center

- What is your Priority Club status?

RA Platinum

- Were you happy with the hotel?
Yes

- Which room did you book and which room did you receive?
Booked a suite, got a suite on a Priority Club floor

- How are the rooms?
Two room suite. One living room area with a large sofa and a huge flat TV. Seperated office area with two work places. Bedroom (without window) with queen sized bed. Bathroom with seperate tub/shower. Approx. 50 sqm.

- What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Free internet in suite
Very friendly staff
Location is hard to beat
Swimming pool looked nice
One free drink for the Plat guest

Bad:
- I'd expected a bathrobe and slippers, and toiletries (not just the wall mounted staff) in a suite.
- There's a ridiculous 7 € tray charge and the room service menu consists of only 4 or 5 bar food items.

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Yes. Cheap rates around new year's.

Intercontinental Dallas (Addison, TX)

- What is your Priority Club status?

PC Platinum

- Were you happy with the hotel?
Very

- Which room did you book and which room did you receive?
Booked a regular room, got an Executive Floor, 2-level suite. ^

- How are the rooms?
2 level, with stairs in the middle of the room. Upper level would be considered a regular hotel room, minus a work desk. Flat panel TV, huge tub, nice bathroom. Lower level was a parlor--the same footprint as the upper level. Sofa, chairs, desk, another flat-panel TV, another bathroom (no shower or tub). Well appointed, clean and comfortable.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:

More-than-expected suite upgrade to the 15th floor as a 'lowly Platinum'
Excellent, friendly staff
Free internet
Free cup of coffee at Starbucks (I wanted something else and was given a $1.90 credit towards any other purchase)

Bad:

Room was freezing cold. I generally like it like a meat locker, but it's January and it was cold...Turning both thermostats up to 80 yielded no difference. My own fault, I was 1) too forgetful to tell them about it in the morning, for them to work on it when I was out for the day and 2) too tired/lazy to move rooms or put up with a maintenance worker in the room at night, coming back and realizing that I forgot to tell them about it earlier that day.

Neither Good/Bad:

I'm not complaining, because I got so much for so little, but the evening appetizers were all cold, and was the same for 3 nights. All cold cuts, cheese, veggies and crackers. A little variety would have been nice, but again, I can't complain and was content--especially given the couple of glasses of wine I had, gratis. Breakfast was as 'continental' as they come...Cereal, fruit, yogurt and breads.

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Good value given the upgrade. Otherwise, not sure if it's worth the $170-night BAR. (I was on a negotiated rate of about $100/night.

- What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum

- Were you happy with the hotel?
Very

- Which room did you book and which room did you receive?
Booked a standard room on reward points, got upgraded to a king room without asking.

- How are the rooms?
Clean and comfortable. I believe the hotel has been recently refurbished as it has only recently become an HI. Room was a little small but certainly not so by New York City standards. The hotel has a very small footprint. Some floors had eight rooms, others only five. I'm guessing the floors with eight had the standard rooms on them.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:

Excellent, very friendly staff
Free goody bag for platinum members when checking in
Staff recognised my platinum status and thanked me for staying at "their" hotels. Made me feel that they valued my booking.

Bad:

Noisy air conditioning. Please will somebody design a quite aircon unit for hotel rooms.

Neither Good/Bad:

Very small lobby created a first impression of wondering what I had done in booking a room there. I think my room was bigger than the lobby.

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
At 15000 points per night for an HI property in NYC it is excellent value, especially since I was there over the New Year holiday period. As long as it remains at 15000, I'd go back. If it goes up to 25000, then I'd probably go to CP Times Square.

- What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum

- Were you happy with the hotel?
It served the purpose for which I booked it but no more.

- Which room did you book and which room did you receive?
Booked a standard room on reward points, got exactly that.

- How are the rooms?
Clean and comfortable but a bit tired

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:

Convenient location close to Newark airport
24/7 shop in lobby
24/7 airport shuttle

Bad:

No recognition of platinum status. Off hand front desk staff.

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
I only booked a room here because I was arriving at Newark at 11.30 p.m. and didn't want the hassle of getting into Manhattan at that hour (or of paying 70 bucks for a cab to do so). This was two days after the snow storm just after Christmas and I finally arrived at the hotel at 3 a.m. so I was very pleased that I booked it.

I would only return to this property under similar circumstances.

Booked a standard room, got upgraded to a "family suite" without asking.

Clean and comfortable. The room I had was quite large and had a separate lounge area.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:

Friendly staff
Convenient location close to airport
Platinum status recognised by room upgrade

Bad:

Very noisy air conditioning / heating unit in room. Sounded like a jet engine when it started up.

- Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
No problems with the stay. Good value for money. Yes, I'd return.
