I managed to obtain the guide used by staff to work out upgrades at this property. Hopefully it will be useful to you all.
Very helpful indeed mslouisebrain!

How did you manage to get this guide if you don't mind sharing?

There is also an interesting note regarding Gold/Platinum Ambassadors who book the Son Tra Terrace Suite. It says "If Gold/Platinum Ambassador book for Son Tra Terrace Suite, offer room rate of Son Tra Room." I presume this is instead of an upgrade. Why wouldn't they just offer the upgrade? The guide confirms that guest would be eligible.

1. Whilst RA,s see a 2-level upgrade to Suite,

2. the lesser Ambassador elite would get lower 1-level upgrade would be club room AND as per IHG t+c's, hotel does not have to give club-lounge privileges to Ambassadors upgraded to a Club room.

As such this IC is offering to downgrade booking one level, with refund of extra paid difference, and then in effect upgrade to booked booked room, which seems fair compared to other opton of upgrade to club without lounge privileges.

All my previous stays there, we got upgraded. Think that in case of no room available for upgrade, they will offered you to stay in booked room, them refund differences between this room & one level lower room.

Has anybody visited the hotel's airport lounge? If so, how is it?

I am an Ambassador staying on points in April, flying from DAD to HKG afterwards. I know the lounge is in DAD's domestic terminal and presume that my flight will be out of the international terminal. Is it possible to easily move between the two terminals?

I visited Danang Lately but didn't stay at the IC. When I was at the airport, flying domestically to Hanoi, I went in the lounge just to have a look. Two girls were behind the bar - but no guests. The lounge is pretty small, probably suitable for a max of 25 people, and it's designed like some sort of a dark bar/pub with booths all around. It looked like there is a very impressive alcohol selection - but I didn't see any food offering. I'm sure they have something behind the bar. Overall, from a quick look, I think it's one airport lounge I'd love to sit in for a while.

That being said,

I don't think they'd let you through to the domestic side with an international ticket. The "terminals" are right next to each other - I mean there's basically a wall between them - but different security gates and obviously no immigration on the domestic side.

+1

I visited both the arrival lounge (bottom of escalator upon arrival) and the domestic departure lounge earlier this year. Both small but enjoyable and clean, friendly staff, and plenty of drink and small bites offerings.

If there is no international departure lounge, I wonder if they use the arrivals lounge for international departing passengers?

I have a stay booked here in a beach pool villa in July.

Any experience or tips?

The place looks spectacular and I am very excited.

Any ideas on which villa is better placed?

What's the surrounding areas like for activity and eating?

What's the club lounge offering?

Thanks in advance.

I stayed one night in early December.

The resort is outstanding.

As a Platinum Ambassador, I used my free night (annual night as part of the Dining Rewards Program).

Booked the most basic room which was on the website for $360USD.

Arrived by car from Hue, awesome service at reception, upgraded to a stunning room, incredible bathroom, seperate loo, wine fridge, etc - huge terrace with a surfboard bar table and 6 stools, also a separate siting area with 2 armchairs.

Ambassador welcome gift.

Went down to the infinity pool, great pool side service, ate at Citron, awesome service, as I had not booked did not get out outside table, but they offered to move me as soon as someone left, which happened within a few minutes.

Same deal at breakfast the next morning. Stayed till 1300 before I moved on to Hoi An so used as much of my late check out as I could.

One of the most awesome places I have ever stayed at, my only grip was that the room had lots of lights like the back lite wine fridge, which mad it difficult to sleep - I prefer a black room.

I will be back. The staff were awesome, the service great. I did send a postcard that never turned up in Australia - but not sure if that was a fault of the concierge, or a fault of the Vietnamese postal service.

I have extensive pics of the room and the resort

So is the InterContinental within walking distance of restaurants, shops? Or would the Crowne Plaza be better for walking to attractions?

- IC Danang is isolated resort, nearest restaurant is about 15km away.

- Beach Pool villa is great, more close to the beach, more luxury, but even classic room in this resort are well equipped & spacious.

- Club access include:
Airport private transfer: Lexus, etc

Airport lounge access: only domestic, on arrival - just take a rest, lounge staff will collect your luggage while you enjoying orange juices ; on departure - served many kind of drinks & hot meal

Breakfast: at club or Citron, because they are connecting, so both are the same; they have also option in room but we never tried

Evening happy hour: Good selections of drink, some hot meal in buffet style

Afternoon high tea: Tea & some canapes, interesting thing that we stayed with our girls, just because they were not allowed to club (but they can eat anythings from kids menu, every where), we order high tea from club to Citron

All day dining (canapes, sandwich & soft drinks,...) very delicious

Separate beach area: serve lemonade & fruit every hour

For club access you can book club room or just by it (last year it cost 140$/ net/ per day/ per room)

- Must try is La Maison Restaurant, only in Viet Nam 3* Michelin

- You cannot use both Airport lounges on international flights

Would the hotel make an issue to have a couple and young child in a regular room?
