Most important points to consider for a valid BRG:
1. The comparison website MUST bill in the same currency as the hotel .
2. The cancellation terms must be equal or better, than the terms by the hotels.
3. The Website needs to provide INSTANT confirmation.
4. The room names should match, but if you can demonstrate, that the room is comparable, it will also work with discrepancies in the name.
5. The price difference has to be more than either USD 1 or 1% (whichever is higher).
5.b In regards to hotels located in australia and New Zealand the price difference must be greater than 3% .
Hotels for which you will get reimbursed:
(Note: There have been significant problems with getting full reimbursements from IHG, especially for reimbursements in other currencies than USD)
IC Istanbul ( BRG claim from the 17.05.2013/ "Technical Difficulties")
IC Frankfurt ( BRG claim from the 20.08.2013/ "Technical Difficulties")

Got mine approved late last night. Took around 56hrs.
Regarding the reimbursement I had it happen a few times and they always sent a check about 3 weeks later.

For German property, am I right to think there is a 10% deduction of the booking price in the case of cancellation, even for best flexible rate?

For all the negative comments posted here, here's one positive one: booked IC Le Grand, submitted BRG, about 48 hours later positive reply, no drama, rate adjusted, good to go.

First off, let me apologize for not reading this entire forum before asking, but time doesn't allow. Waited 4 days tor a response and was approved. Asking me to pay for the stay and then a check will be sent in 6 to 8 weeks after the stay. How safe am I in paying upfront and actually receiving said check? Are there T&Cs that might cause a forfeit in the BRG once I arrive? I've found alternate accommodations that, IF I WERE PAYING FULL PRICE FOR THE IHG, I'd cancel the IhG and book the alternate. I will however keep the IHG reservation if the BRG is a safe bet!
Am I safe to check in with two persons with my BRG room booked for single occupancy even though the rate would have been the same? I'm doubtful.

UPDATE. I was awarded the BRG rate match and first night free. I had booked my room for one guest. Now my sis wants to come with and I know if the terms change I lose the match and free night! I've found the lower rate on Amoma.com twice now and booked the room under my sis's name with the intention of canceling my res. but I'm finding what many posters have encountered...Delayed replies and then sudden raises in rates on OTA sites and suddenly the refusal arrives. The rate I booked was there for weeks until I submitted a new claim.

Though I guess there's the issue of double vs. single beds............. you could try to ask for twin beds at checkin claiming reverse claustrophobia (where you feel threatened when your bed is too large), or constancyphobia (where you are terrified of constancy so you need to switch beds every night).
Or you could just sleep with your sister. Hey, if she's willing to travel with you for free, I'm sure she won't mind sharing a bed. I've done it with a (same sex) coworker because our company was too cheap to pay for proper hotels (despite flying us in business class), so how bad can a sister be :P

Oh IC Times Square? Jesus, that place is a mess during quiet days, and is a complete clusterf* during holidays (although the manager is a nice guy, I like him). Don't worry. Just check in alone, have your sister wait on the side of the lobby near the elevators. Nobody's going to care.

You got an approved BRG claim for the IC Times Square using Amoma.com?
This shouldn't be possible. Amoma is a European site and charges in EUR.
Is it a change in policy...? Simply a one-time mistake?
Plus, I can only assume you used a prepaid rate (brave) since Amoma cancellation policy is usually nothing like what you can find on the IHG site.
Anyway, nice going!

I copied this from the IHG website:
Canceling your reservation after 4:00 PM (local hotel time) on xxx, 2014, or failing to show, will result in a charge of 1 night per room to your credit card. Taxes may apply. Failing to call or show before check-out time after the first night of a reservation will result in cancellation of the remainder of your reservation.
Cancellation policy for hotels in Germany: There will be a deduction from this charge for expenses saved by the hotel (generally 10% of the booking price)

I've a problem similar to the parismama one
I've booked and successfully claimed a double room in IC Shanghai Puxi
I could not find any site where to book a room for 2 adults with children
At the check in, is it possible to have a child in the room? Is it ok, if the child is not my son?
Or it would be a modify of the reservation and I would loose my claim?

That is not how I understand it. The 10% they will give back to you if you cancel too late (so you pay the first night minus 10% if you fail to cancel in time - usually 4pm on the day of arrival)
