Most important points to consider for a valid BRG:

1. The comparison website MUST bill in the same currency as the hotel .

2. The cancellation terms must be equal or better, than the terms by the hotels.

3. The Website needs to provide INSTANT confirmation.

4. The room names should match, but if you can demonstrate, that the room is comparable, it will also work with discrepancies in the name.

5. The price difference has to be more than either USD 1 or 1% (whichever is higher).
5.b In regards to hotels located in australia and New Zealand the price difference must be greater than 3% .

Hotels for which you will get reimbursed:
(Note: There have been significant problems with getting full reimbursements from IHG, especially for reimbursements in other currencies than USD)

IC Istanbul ( BRG claim from the 17.05.2013/ "Technical Difficulties")

IC Frankfurt ( BRG claim from the 20.08.2013/ "Technical Difficulties")

Then the whole point is basically pointless. If the agent processes it immediately when he sees the case but the case won't appear to any agent until 6 months after the claim is submitted what good does it do? Also, whole thing is extremely hard to believe as many have attested to price fixing, days go by and you hear nothing and all of sudden price goes up on ota and boom you get a denial. Pretty obvious that agents are forewarning hotels in certain instances and not immediately processing the claim.

I am about to sue IHG for over 500 of approved BRG that I had to initially pay for then reclaim and where I still haven't received payment after 11 weeks. It is convenient that IHG is HQ'd here in the UK as the claim process is simple and straightforward.

It is shocking that IHG Head Office lets the BRG Team get away with this awful service.

The 2 times I have interacted with them, if feels like they are at some mud hut in the middle of nowhere on dial-up internet. They blatantly disregard the set response timelines by not hours but days or just do not reply at all.

I rank IHG barely one level about Best Western. That it not saying much.

Does sending a chase email not work any more? I have a claim 27 hours submitted against a best flex rate, which is cancellable upto 4pm tomorrow - which will be about 55 hours since submission.

Sending a chase email didn't work at all for me - had to complain formally.

Right. Essentially, you're helping IHG police 3rd party sites.

Current processing time is in excess of 72 hours.

That is based on responses received over the past few days for various claims.

If you've waited seven days.....it's likely that they wont have received your claim. I've had this happen on several occasions. You'll have to rebook and file a new claim.

In my experience, BW has processed my claims within a few hours and has generally handled claims fairly. The IHG BRG program is unethically deceptive at best and criminally fraudulent at worst.

In order not to avoid the risk of being unjustly denied a valid claim (something that happens all the time with IHG), it is only prudent to book a book a Best Flex rate about 7 days prior to the arrival date. So when you have to wait for 5-6 days to get a response, there is often no time left to file a fresh claim and expect a response before the cancellation deadline.

So how do you suggest one handles a situation like that?

yes, i'm sure its deliberate.

I now have 90 minutes to cancel the best flex room and have heard nothing on the BRG I submitted on Tuesday. I even sent a chasing email yesterday but nothing.

A bunch of inaccurate denials

Have had a bunch of claims denied because the cancellation terms did not match exactly, even though the rate booked at ihg.com was the LOWEST AVAILABLE rate at the time. (In the week before the stay, only a cancelable, flexible rate is available.)

Are they purposefully misreading the terms? The IHG agents used to understand the nuances of this point. They no longer seem to. Is there an order from management to reject more claims?

First off, let me apologize for not reading this entire forum before asking, but time doesn't allow. Waited 4 days tor a response and was approved. Asking me to pay for the stay and then a check will be sent in 6 to 8 weeks after the stay. How safe am I in paying upfront and actually receiving said check? Are there T&Cs that might cause a forfeit in the BRG once I arrive? I've found alternate accommodations that, IF I WERE PAYING FULL PRICE FOR THE IHG, I'd cancel the IhG and book the alternate. I will however keep the IHG reservation if the BRG is a safe bet!

it is a safe bet

some hotel brg's where this is mentioned even refund at checkout, but don't get hopes uptoo much.

on the bright side, although you shouldn't, you will get points and qual night which unless you raise an account query causing ihg to look at your account won't be removed even when ihg corporate pay you the cost of the stay.
