Most important points to consider for a valid BRG:
1. The comparison website MUST bill in the same currency as the hotel .
2. The cancellation terms must be equal or better, than the terms by the hotels.
3. The Website needs to provide INSTANT confirmation.
4. The room names should match, but if you can demonstrate, that the room is comparable, it will also work with discrepancies in the name.
5. The price difference has to be more than either USD 1 or 1% (whichever is higher).
5.b In regards to hotels located in australia and New Zealand the price difference must be greater than 3% .
Hotels for which you will get reimbursed:
(Note: There have been significant problems with getting full reimbursements from IHG, especially for reimbursements in other currencies than USD)
IC Istanbul ( BRG claim from the 17.05.2013/ "Technical Difficulties")
IC Frankfurt ( BRG claim from the 20.08.2013/ "Technical Difficulties")

Unfortunately, there is NO work-around for this, and we have to play by the rules set up by IHG. This is the part I hate the most, as compared to the old T&Cs they had before which allowed for real-time verification.

Made a booking yesterday on an OTA for a lower rate than on IHG's website. This lower rate was because of an one-day flash sale on this well-known site. However, IHG did not review my claim until today, and the rates are now the same. Is there a way I can work-around this? This does not seem fair, as why should I be punished for the delay in when they review the claims? I clearly have met all the other criteria, and I did find a lower rate on another website just after booking the IHG hotel.
If a flash 1day sale you need submit as early as possible within OTA's flash period, as you will not be only brg'er aware of a well known OTA sale and an easier BRG score opportunity.

The bottom line is that IHG guarantee the lowest price. There would, in my opinion, be some sort of implied condition that the verification take place in a timely manner.
But it would take someone with the will to see it through.

Ended up getting rejected because the rate on the OTA refundable, but the cancellation polices were not identical (i.e., the OTA one could be canceled up to 6 pm the day before, while IHG could be cancelled up to 6 pm on the day).

You book standard website rates.
For example you do not need to enter your company code (or AAA rate, government rate etc etc ) which gives you say 15% off and then go off and try and match that lower company rate at OTA's.
You are meant to compare eitther of
o Standard ADR with OTA ADR rates
o Standard Flex with OTA Flex rates

I'm assuming they are comparing case file numbers between two claims sent in an hour apart.
If this is so then it should be noted that the case file number is a reference from their web guru system and this system is the same that gives references for points claims and all other queries, so it's not a good reference.

Here's the situation:
Advance purchase rates
IHG: $100 + $20 2nd person fee
Competitor: $100 all in
Is this going to work or no?
