Most important points to consider for a valid BRG:

1. The comparison website MUST bill in the same currency as the hotel .

2. The cancellation terms must be equal or better, than the terms by the hotels.

3. The Website needs to provide INSTANT confirmation.

4. The room names should match, but if you can demonstrate, that the room is comparable, it will also work with discrepancies in the name.

5. The price difference has to be more than either USD 1 or 1% (whichever is higher).
5.b In regards to hotels located in australia and New Zealand the price difference must be greater than 3% .

Hotels for which you will get reimbursed:
(Note: There have been significant problems with getting full reimbursements from IHG, especially for reimbursements in other currencies than USD)

IC Istanbul ( BRG claim from the 17.05.2013/ "Technical Difficulties")

IC Frankfurt ( BRG claim from the 20.08.2013/ "Technical Difficulties")

If you are forced to accept US$ denominated cheques or fund transfer for your complimentary stay(s), you are subject to currency losses and/or bank transfer fee(s), provided that the hotel currency is NOT in US$. Am I correct? Anybody else has similar experience? Or the cheques are the better option?

Just rec'd the 1st fund transfer for my previous complimentary stay and discovered that there is approx. $15.00 diff between the price paid and the fund rec'd.

Not sure because IHG used to give you 10% extra as a buffer against currency fluctuation etc. However when I got ours back in November they didn't add the 10% on them.

IHG only cover their fees but not your fee. That's the reason why they still owe us EUR 120.

Good luck in getting your money back ^

Last month succesfully claimed a suite in Intercontinental (Red Sea, Egypt) for 4 nights. After all, paid about 60 euro per night for half board (2+1)! 5 star hotel!
What a wonder!
Surprised to receive 6000 PC points for our stay.

Did you have to claim money back? or was it comped before the stay?

It is sometimes BS ;-)

Excluding the 3rd person rates, they can impose higher prices. :-(

I think you are right. I have done my math again and it was due to the bank transfer fees 99.9%, and there was no way that the currency fluctuation could have caused this.

Did you try the cheques before? Was it a better option than the fund transfer? Thx.

Hello,

I am looking at a booking on ON hotels site for a lower rate of 44.25 vs 45.00 on priority club website. I have checked it is instant confirmation and also the billing currency.
Has anybody has success with this same site ON hotels?

Thansk

This won't work due to this rule:

The average nightly room price and the average nightly total room cost must each be a minimum difference of 1% or $1 USD (or the equivalent in the hotel’s currency) (whichever is higher)
I think they like to read that as 1 difference.

I have some upcoming BRGs, of which the ones I have to pay first amounts to a few thousand dollars.

In the past when I received a check, I received more, but once I opted for a bank transfer and lost out a little bit. Since this time it involves a significantly larger sum, I'm wondering which option to choose - check or bank transfr?

Seems it was free for the first night and matched for the three nights.
That would explain the points being eligible for the three nights.
But then that dosen't explain why they got 6K points since it should be 2K per stay.

Perhaps that's what the OP meant

hmm any experiences of this? it could be $1 converted into local currency too!

Ok as I was intrigued to know this I called and ask and it was clarified that the $1 would be converted to UKGBP so roughly 0.66p and not 1.

Cheers

Does spend on a BRG night qualify for points?
I received some for last weekend stay, however I did not a couple of months back at another brg when I dropped some spend too.
