Recent discussion (After January 01, 2016) could be found in this thread.

Most important points to consider for a valid BRG:

1. The comparison website MUST bill in the same currency as the hotel .

2. The cancellation terms must be equal or better, than the terms by the hotels.

3. The Website needs to provide INSTANT confirmation.

4. The room names should match, but if you can demonstrate, that the room is comparable, it will also work with discrepancies in the name.

5. The price difference has to be more than either USD 1 or 1% (whichever is higher).
5.b In regards to hotels located in australia and New Zealand the price difference must be greater than 3% .

Hotels for which you will get reimbursed:
(Note: There have been significant problems with getting full reimbursements from IHG, especially for reimbursements in other currencies than USD)

IC Istanbul ( BRG claim from the 17.05.2013/ "Technical Difficulties")

IC Frankfurt ( BRG claim from the 20.08.2013/ "Technical Difficulties")

Right!! instead of discussing I just called and asked . The agent knew exactly what I meant and directed me to : https://www.ihg.com/holidayinn/hotel...rms-conditions

Stating those linked above are the most up to date terms and conditions.

I think they are aware the outdated ones are still up.

I think I just scored a free night at a very expensive Intercontinental. In my response from BRG they say "We have verified the lower rate. We are working on the best way to adjust your reservation to a FREE night stay. We appreciate your patience and will contact you via e-mail once this has been confirmed".

Is this a typical response. The rate I booked was a prepaid non refundable rate.

Yes - this is what you get as the first response, then you will get a followup email that either states you're all set or that you'll pay for the room and get reimbursed in 4-6 weeks.

Nice one!, What IC did you BRG? and you can keep a eye on your reservation via the mobile site - I find they 9/10 times change the rate to house comp before sending you out a confirmation email.

PL IC had the best breakfast I have ever had in any hotel, anywhere. Just a reference point.

Thanks for answering my question. The hotel I got was the Intercontinental Boston. The rate was close to $400 after taxes. I found a lower rate on getaroom.com. It looks like they have already removed the lower rate.

Interesting - I've arrived at a one-night BRG stay, and even though I got an email saying that I would be paying in advance and getting reimbursed in 4-6 weeks, the hotel actually said my room was "complimentary, courtesy of IHG".

lo2e - What IC was this - I have a successful BRG at the IC Boston in August and got the email stating that they would be sending a check after the stay. Just wondering if this might be the same situation...
