Ambassador enrolment will now be $200 from July 01, 2010

Just had news from a very reliable contact that enrolment to Ambassador as from the 1st July (tomorrow) will be $200. (Not $150 as it is currently).....Renewal will remain the same at $100!

Lets hope this will bring some added benefits!!

If anybody is thinking of becoming Ambassador now is the time to do it!!

That's one heck of a rise - 33%! Interesting to see if the points value (24k) would go up proportionately. We'll see probably tomorrow.

I really wonder if this will also bring some new benefits or is simply to raise IC's cash-flow.

I do seem to remember a survey for Ambassadors some time ago asking us about various different benefits and what prices we would be prepared to pay. Perhaps this is in response to that survey possibly indicating Ambassadors were willing to pay extra for added benefits. I also seem to remember one of the packages being discussed was upping the rate to $200 but I'm also pretty sure that with this came extra benefits such as free internet. Lets hope that is the case....$50 for 12 months worth of IC internet access in my book is a good deal.....Lets hope this is the case and not just extra revenue as you say.

Maybe it'd be worth $200 if they gave us back the real BOGOs. I wonder what renewals are going to be like?

Renewals remain the same at $100....looking at that now maybe there wont be new benefits or you'd have thought to cover the new benefits they would also increase the renewal cost!

Thanks Goonerfish ^ What a very good idea that I renewed a couple of days ago ... I also hope (but don't think they'll do that) for extra benefits - would not mind the 50 Dollar extra if Internet and/ or breakfast is offered.
Seems there is a new wind blowing and in general I am not sure I like it

I was starting to feel clever about recently renewing,
except the renewal fee is NOT increasing.

MrHalliday, my membership lapsed at the end of April and I was not sure about renewing or not. But now I am glad I did ...

Still a great deal for the money. Just between the BOGO and the 4pm checkout, Ambassador is worth it, let alone everything else.

Just got it for the 1st time based on the title of this thread.

Did the book points+cash booking/cancel trick for 20k points at $120. Paid for amb using points and then intend on claiming back 5k with the point voucher you get.

Basically works out at out at £80 to get it for the 1st time by my reckoning.

Didn't realise the kit takes 4-6 weeks to arrive though?! Bit of a joke or what!

More like 3 weeks, but the status will show up almost immediately online.

I think it took less than 2 weeks to get mine. I think they say 4-6 weeks to cover themselves for some countries.

Yes, it is indeed showing $200 on this IHG page now.

Given the promos to earn Ambassador, as well as the 24k point offer, there are still inexpensive way to join. Most of the Ambassador upgrades are worth at least $20 a day, and with late checkout, water and offer spiffs, you can easily get double that in value each day.

If you're not doing a few stays at ICs, then it may be money that is mostly wasted.
