Cheapest way to get to tokyo with points?

I have about 50,000 points on captilone and 90,000 points with hawaiian airlines. I'm flying out from san diego. How can I maximize these points get the japan?

One way, or roundtrip?

What is the current redemption rate with your Hawaiian miles?

What have you found when looking?

Hawaiian airlines is now owned by Alaska. So you have AS ff miles. AS is oneworld airline, but as yet the HA brand is not. So AS has many ff partners.
Look in the AS forum. https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/alas...s-rewards-442/

Capital One has many airline partners. But not AS~HA.

Note FT is not a source of (hidden) awards.

JAL is a Capital One transfer partner and a quick search shows the following for one-way award mileage requirements:
San Diego 27,000

so you would need 54k JAL miles for a RT ticket.

If you have Amex points, you can also look into ANA transfer for comparable mileage award.

Nope:

"Capital One airline transfer partners

"Capital One has a variety of airline partners. Transfer rates vary, depending on which airline you choose.

"EVA Air and Japan Airlines Mileage Bank offer a 2:1.5 transfer ratio."

(Emphasis added.)

Good catch. I don’t have CapitalOne and didnt read the fine print re transfer ratios. But did mention in my response as needing 54000 JAL points.
