Water Bottles when flying from Panama International (PTY)
I recently flew to the US from PTY. I emptied my water bottle before going through security as usual and put it in a plastic bag with snacks. I was then told that I can't take that empty water bottle on board. Although I (luckily) just had an empty soft drink bottle that I intended to refill upon arrival, I complained to a supervisor and was told that the US requires this. - My best guess: Somebody made a mistake when translating US requirements and now this myth is in their system. So, if you depart from PTY, do not carry an expensive water bottle, put it in you checked baggage!
