Looking for Lie Flat from JFK to somewhere warm
Looking to fly lie flat from JFK to somewhere warm in November-January time. Europe is too cold. Hawaii is too far. Thinking somewhere between 4-7 hour flight. From my research, all Caribbean destinations dont have any lie-flat options. Anyone have any suggestions?

Bogotá from JFK on Avianca. The seat is slightly angled, though. If you don't mind extending your upper flight time limit to 7:40, Lima on UA.
There are surely other options as well. |

And there's also JFK-LAX, but can't guarantee warmth in L.A. that time of year. |
DL and AM have lie-flat on select routings to CUN & MEX.

On a short daytime flight of five/six hours or less, I really don't see any advantage of lie-flat seats. A comfortable domestic first class seat is just fine. I certainly wouldn't let it dictate my holiday location.

What about looking at the jet blue mint flights to the Caribbean — they may only be once a week though |

Have you looked at the JetBlue Mint options -- the flights are only once a week from JFK but at least that is an option to some islands

Surprised that AA has lie flat JFK-MIA, but none to the Caribbean. |
I will try again: why is lie-flat so important for a four hour daytime flight from NYC to the Caribbean? I'd rather focus on the hotel I'm staying on than the short hop to get there.

AA tends to fly lie-flats on non-transcons domestically only between its various hubs. And of course AA doesn't have any hubs in the Carribean (nor do any other airlines). Perhaps you should consider a connecting flight through MIA, and be happy that you can at least get lie-flat part of the way, as you're not that likely to find lie-flat going all the way to the Caribbean. At AA (and probably most other airlines), lie-flat tends to be only on planes configured for JFK-LAX/SFO transcons plus planes configured for longhaul international travel. To get a lie-flat on a shorter flight (which is all you seem to want), it has be a transcon plane, or an international plane "using up" time domestically. Keep in mind that the primary reason AA puts lie-flat on planes is for business people booking business class and paying business class fares so as to get the best use out of their flight time, not for the casual traveler going on vacation. And there's comparatively little business travel to the Caribbean. |
Thanks!

Do you consider LA warm? You can get lie-flats from JFK to LAX, but they are a bit pricey. If you're willing to schlep or take a short train ride or flight to PHL, AA flies a 330 from PHL to LAX and it is usually a decent deal.likewise, you can fly or train up to BOS and catch the JetBlue Mint seats to LAX for usually a better deal.
