ATL to HKG/MNL
 

What's up ladies and gentleman. My Wife and I are trying to get to Manila next Feb/March for friend's wedding. Probably going to stop in Hong Kong for a few days as well. Just to make things easier, we'll probably fly into LAX (or somewhere else on west cost) from ATL since I'm sure it's easier to find rewards flights outta LAX.

Probably going to use ANA to fly Business Class since it's only 95k round trip for each of us, but was looking for other good options even if it cost more points. Is there a way to use points to fly from US > MNL > HKG > US? Right now I'm just thinking of flying directly into HKG, and then booking a round trip flight from HKG to MNL for the wedding.

I would plan on using miles ONLY to HKG and then just pay cash for the quick flight HKG to the PH. There are MANY low cost alternatives that will be much easier than trying to find award ticket, look at Cebu Pacific. I would also like to offer an alternative, as I go to PH twice a year for work. Look into flying into Clark (CRK) instead of NAIA - Manila (MNL). if you are on the north side of Manila- MUCH easier. Last year had to get from MNL terminal 3 to Term 1 and it took OVER an hour. Cebu Pacific flies into CRK and much easier.

If using Amex MR transferred to NH it's a high value redemption. But between HKG & the Philippines there are no nonstop Star Alliance flights. There are CX flights that one can use BA/IB Avios for redemption or a cheap paid LCC ticket. For getting to HK it's good to look at BR out of JFK,IAH, ORD, SFO or LAX and if need be SEA. Service in J is really nice, award availability tends to be good and the connection is easy. Do segment searches (for example SFO-HKG using the UA search tool for availability to built an itinerary and then feed the flights to the NH rep. Be sure to open your NH account now and get the paperwork done for your wife to qualify for a redemption.
