Passport page 27

Hi:

i recently replaced aced a lost passport, here in the USA. My new passport, on page 27 states :
this passport expired on such date and is a replacement passport. A full validity passport must be approved by state department.

My question is, first, does this mean that my passport is not a full passport? Can I use it to travel with? Finally, why would I not receive my full passport?

It is a bit confusing, largely because you have not what country issued your passport.

Based on the assumption that you are a citizen of a country other than the US and are traveling in the US, it sounds as though you were issued a passport-replacing document ("temporary passport") which is a limited document generally issued to permit you to get back to the country issuing the passport where a new passport will be issued.

But, impossible to provide anything other than this level of speculation without facts.

Yes, you will need to obtain a replacement passport at some point before your next international trip. Bear in mind that some countries require a specific length of validity after arrival.

I had this with a lost passport about 15 years ago. Seems that the way the State Department's system works to prevent use of stolen passports is the missing, stole, damaged passport is tagged to the replacement and page 27 is an easy way to identify the replacement as the data page is where a forger will change info.

I think that, in all honesty, what confuses me is the fact that I applied for an entirely new passport, paid 135 plus the expedite fee. It was reported lost, and all paperwork filled out. So, why would they issue me a passport that is, in all truth, worthless. How do I get my full validity? Do I do the exact same thing that I have already done? It’s confusing

I already applied for a replacement. I lost this one at home, so I wasn’t traveling. I already filled out the lost paperwork, along with new passport application. I got this limited validity passport in the mail, not a new full validity one.
