Honeymoon points help please! LHR-AKL...
I’m planning my honeymoon and I could use advice. Like any aspiring husband to be I’m fretting about using my modest air miles stash for maximum return on honeymoon glamour. Me and my fiancée are hoping to go to New Zealand for 3 weeks sometime between early Nov - mid Dec 2019. I have 185,000 BA points and a 241 voucher and 100,000 Virgin points and a 241 voucher only valid in economy. We may do one long haul holiday in 2020 to either Japan, Colombia or South Africa. After that we’re planning on less travel for a while. Could you possibly advise on what you would see as the best use of these miles. I’m currently considering going via Tokyo (Business out, First back) and using my BA miles on this flight. I could then use the Virgin Miles (but not voucher) on an AirNZ flight to Auckland. Or I could go BA to Sydney but probably have to fight hard for the seats and not be able to experience First. Or pay cash and haul more miles in! Any help/guidance would be much appreciated JT |
OW airlines to AKL from Eu/UK are QF, QR, MH & CX. No first class to AKL on QF, CX or MH. Unsure about QR. They all have business class. Maybe more first class to Australia.
Air NZ release very few award flights to partners, if that was part of the Tokyo idea. Air NZ does not have first class. If AKL is not the real NZ destination transiting in Australia and then a non stop flight (~3:30) to a range of NZ airports is a good option. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auckland_Airport |
