DL vs. VA on B777 for LAX to SYD
Hey all,
I have a friend who is using miles to book our flights to SYD on Delta. When looking at our options, we are given the choice of a connecting flight out of LAX on either DL or VA. Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on these two airlines.

I think first, business, or premium economy. I also think he has status, as he flies a lot on DL for business (1-2 times a month) and sometimes pleasure (at least 2 times a year). I think he just found out that is was earning miles on this business trips that he can use for his own pleasure trips.

Availability will be the issue. May not have a choice of carrier.
There is a thread some where on VA vs DL business class (can't find)
I think VA was considered better

Both airlines operate international business as their premium cabin on 777s. VA operate a true premium economy which DL does not (yet) and both have economy and economy with extra legroom.
Id rank it VA J>DL J>VA PE> VA Y+> can’t compare the two in Y but others may offer opinions.

Also, check the DL flight number. If it's 41, it's a real DL flight. If it's 6978, or 6974 changing at BNE, it's a VA flight that DL code-shares.
